Student Services : Wellbeing

Congratulations to our Raise program graduates

Northcote High School has partnered with Raise Youth Mentoring for the past 6 years.

Volunteer mentors visited the school for 20 weeks and participated in group activities and worked through a series of discussion topics with student mentees, they focused on topics such as; identifying goals, decision making, how to overcome obstacles and how to access support.

Raise mentoring programs provide a community support around young people. Our latest group of students from year 7 and 8 graduated last week, here is a photo of our lovely volunteers. Thank you to all who participated.

RUOK day morning tea

Staff of Northcote high shared a morning tea together on Tuesday to celebrate RUOK? Day.  Student Services hosted the event in the Social Staffroom. It was great opportunity to connect and enjoy some good conversation with good people!

Looking after your wellbeing during the holidays

We are officially three quarters of the way through the year! School holidays are a great chance to take a break, reconnect with friends, hobbies and family (and sure, the sleep-ins are a nice bonus too!). While it can be tempting to let go of routines over the holidays, maintaining some momentum, or even using the extra time to set some goals for yourself can be really beneficial.

Students might like to explore the Fabulous! app to help build physically and mentally healthy routines. For those who need some further support This Way Up offers a range of evidence-based programs to support young people feeling stressed, sad or anxious. You can check out this comprehensive list from Reach Out for many other health and wellbeing apps that can help you get started.

Like students and teachers, the Student Wellbeing team also take a break over the holidays. If you require support during this time, please see the below resources.

We look forward to welcoming students back in Term 4!
