Bike Incursion

Montando en bicicleta!

This week Newlands Primary School hosted an exciting Bike Incursion in partnership with AusBike and it has been a fantastic experience for all students from Prep to Year 6! The program focused on teaching essential bike safety skills, to ensure that our students are well-prepared for safe cycling.

Throughout the week, students participated in various activities and games aimed at enhancing their understanding of helmet fit and bike safety checks. They learned to inspect their bikes for issues like loose bolts, checking air pressure in tires, and ensuring the chain and handlebars were secure.

In addition to safety, students also worked on developing important riding skills. The younger students practiced balancing on their bikes, while the older ones took on more advanced challenges, such as performing emergency stops and making controlled turns at different speeds.

It’s been a fun and educational week and we’re proud of the progress our students have made in becoming more confident and safe cyclists!
