Deputy Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Wow! What a term! As well as a lot of days of learning, growing and friendship, there have been quite a few extra things to make a wonderful Term 3. We’ve enjoyed Grandparents and Special Friends Day, Book Week, Potato Olympics, 100 Days of Prep, Father’s Day Afternoon Tea, Athletics, a BBQ with St Timothy’s families, Footy Day and a whole school excursion. We need a holiday! A huge thank you to all the parents who helped make these events happen.

We are looking forward to a fantastic Term 4 with another whole school excursion to Scienceworks, Art Show, School Production and Holy Saviour Festival. It’s going to be a great one! Have a wonderful holiday, everyone. It is a perfect opportunity to wind down, rest and reset, spend time together and take some pressure off yourself. See you back in Term 4 ‘bright-eyed and bushy-tailed’.

School Holiday Works

There is going to be quite a bit of work undertaken these upcoming school holidays from tree pruning, to Kinder playground developments, and the start of our big refurbishment program! Upon returning in Term 4, there will be changes to drop-off and pick-up procedures, as well as changed and limited access to school buildings. There will be no access to the front of the school. (Please see the separate notification sent by Steve Evans.) We will keep you updated throughout the process, but thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding during this exciting time.

Holy Saviour Art Show

It’s back for 2024! The Holy Saviour Visual Art Show will be showcased on the afternoon and evening of Tuesday 22nd October. Please add this date to your diaries. The children are very excited to be able to showcase all their amazing creativity from the year featuring a variety of artwork, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, and mixed media projects. We hope you can all make the time to come and celebrate your children’s accomplishments.

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools - School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)

Thank you to the families who have already completed the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools - School Improvement Surveys. It has taken them, on average, only 20 minutes to complete the survey! These anonymous surveys provide extremely valuable feedback on many aspects of our Holy Saviour educational environment. Staff, students and parents' feedback help paint a complete picture of the current climate and consequently help set goals for our future School Improvement Plans. The data collected will be used as part of our four yearly review next year. Please complete the survey as your earliest convenience.

Prep 2025 Enrolments

We have had great interest in Prep for 2025, as well as other year levels, and we’ve had a good number of enrolments come through already. If you have a child who is eligible to start Prep in 2025, please submit your enrolment at your earliest convenience. This will enable us to develop a clear picture of classing and group sizes for 2025. Enrolments for 2025 are to be made through the Emmaus portal

Final Thoughts   ~ ‘I’m boooooored’

Nothing can get a parent’s hackles up like those two words in the holidays. But…let them! Let them be bored. It’s not a parent’s job to be their sole form of entertainment. A child who is left to be bored will eventually find something to do (that is not screen related). Make suggestions but don’t organise them. It takes a while, and a lot of grumbling, but the next thing you know, they have all of the blankets, sheets and towels out and they’ve made a cubby with the furniture (the Kilkenny Kids used the clothesline) which will entertain them for days. Children will amaze themselves with their creativity, initiative, negotiating, cooperating and problem-solving...and you will have an independent little human!

Kind regards,

Jenni Kilkenny
