Library News
How is it the last week of Term 3 already? Goodness, doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun! Our libraries have been in full swing with Reading Rooms, study and tutor sessions, book club meetings, and the buzz of staff and students venturing in and out borrowing books or playing games with friends.
Our librarians are preparing to stocktake our collections over the break so if you have any books laying around that need to be returned, please drop them past one of our campus libraries at your earliest convenience so we can ensure our shelves are up to date against our borrowing lists.
Book Club with Miss Nicholls
Did you know our wonderful librarian/teacher at Kildare, Miss Nicholls, runs weekly book club meetings at our Kildare Campus Library? An intimate group of avid readers come together each week to discuss, share and talk all things BOOKS! Only those students who have agreed to commit may attend the meetings each week and these catch ups are proving to be a well-enjoyed part of the week for our members.
Miss Nicholls and her group share about books they are currently reading and would recommend, discuss different genres and opportunities to engage in reading, and suggest new books to add to our growing library collections. Next term, the Club has made the decision to all read the same book so they can discuss it chapter by chapter, in depth, at meetings. The book of choice has yet to be decided. Another exciting opportunity in the pipeline for the club is hoped to be an excursion to the local Campaspe Library for more book discussions and exposure. This is just another one of the many fun and inclusive activities we have going on here at St Joes.
But don’t take our word for it, here is a quote from one of our active Book Club members:
“Book Club is an amazing opportunity to connect with people who have the same love of books. It also gives me a place to share my own personal stories to a group.”

Website Updates
If you have taken the time to peruse the St Joseph’s Library webpage, you may have noticed some changes and additions to our resources, particularly in our VCE files. The librarians have been working hard to make websites and resources readily available to our students to assist in their study journey. The files have been organised into curriculum areas to make navigating the site easier, and to help self-direct students to the resources that are useful to their particular study areas.
Reminders
Our wonderful librarians work hard for staff and students to have two fantastic spaces for everyone to go for calm and study purposes, however, we have noticed that there is continuing to be a lot of rubbish left around. Please be mindful that the libraries are not places where food and drink (or gum) are to be consumed, so no food scraps or wrappers should be left lying around. Also, as much as we foster and encourage student learning in our spaces, please ensure you leave your workspace neat and tidy, chairs returned and no papers left behind.
That’s all from us. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday break, and remember, even if you’re not travelling, there are always other ways to experience exciting adventures!
