Co-Curriculum Report
Campaspe Athletics
What a great day out for St Joseph’s College at the Campaspe Athletics last week!
Over 60 students headed to Shepparton to compete in a number of events and not only did we witness some excellent individual efforts - but we also came home with the shield for the highest number of points on the day!
We are incredibly proud of all our athletes who tried their best and demonstrated great sportsmanship.
In particular we would like to congratulate the following students who broke records in their events:
Roudan B - Under 13 Boys Shot Put
Marlon M - Under 13 Boys High Jump
Parker G - Under 13 Triple Jump
And an extra special mention to the following students who were awarded Age Champions:
Marlon M - Under 13 Boys
Nate S - Under 14 Boys
Harry S - Under 15 Boys
Yarran J - Under 16 Boys
Mia M - Under 17 Girls
Harry S was also awarded the Geoff Ringin trophy for the highest points on the day! Well done Harry!
Campaspe Basketball
It was a very successful day on the court for our four SJC teams at the Campaspe Year 7 and Intermediate Basketball Tournament recently.
Year 7 Girls
The Year 7 girls played excellent basketball to win both of their matches. Strong defence was the key to their success, with the girls applying strong pressure on the opposition all day. Strong teamwork was also on show in both games as the girls transitioned the ball down the court smooth and efficiently. Well done girls!
Thanks to coach Ms L Baker.
Year 7 Boys
The Year 7 boys came out to play from the get go, proving too strong for their opponents. Arli W was a terror in defence, getting an absurd amount of steals and intercepts, while Jaz V displayed a great number of flashy passes to his teammates. Excellent work boys!
Thanks to coach Mr M Berg.
Intermediate Girls
The Year 9/10 girls demonstrated exceptional teamwork and determination throughout the tournament, showcasing strong defensive skills and strategic plays. Their tenacity and skill on the court were evident as they fought hard in both games to win comfortably. Congratulations girls for making our school proud with your spirited performance.
Thanks to coach Ms M Anderson
Intermediate boys
Our Year 9/10 boys played well as a unit to run the floor on offence and demonstrated excellent ball movement and shooting. Strong team defence also kept the opposition to minimal points. The boys made it though the pools games and finished the day on a high finish by taking out the final by over 20 points. Awesome work boys!
Thanks to coach Mr N Beck.
Campaspe Intermediate Boys Cricket
Round 1
Our Year 9 and 10 boys cricket side ventured to Echuca College for Round 1 of the Campaspe competition last week.
On a beautiful sunny day, we lost the toss and were asked to bat.
The boys got off to a solid, steady start with Ben H and Liam B controlling the tempo on a slow outfield.
Liam went on to anchor the innings with a handy 40 runs, while others like Easton C and Charlie M chipped in.
Defending 106 was always going to be a challenge but the boys rose to the occasion, with steady line and length bowling from Geordie T and Eden T.
In the middle stages of their innings it looked like the College might be getting on top but our Captain Easton C and man of the match Liam B stood up when needed, bowling very tight and taking crucial wickets to swing the match in our favour.
In the end the boys fielded and bowled well and walked away with a six run win in what was a great game of cricket!
Round 2
Our Intermediate Boys took to the field again this week for the second round of the Campaspe Cricket competition.
In their first game against Rochester, our boys put up 100 runs in 20 overs, with Ben H leading the charge, scoring a solid 35.
In the field, Easton C and Eden T were on fire with the ball, helping us restrict Rochester to just 85 runs.
In their second game against SMOTA the boys bowled first, keeping them to 100 runs in 17 overs, thanks to Liam B and Angus M’s fantastic bowling.
However, SMOTA returned with a strong bowling attack which proved challenging for our boys, and they fell 50 runs short.
Incredibly proud of the team for a solid day of cricket and a great all-round team effort!
Thanks to Mr M Butler and Mr J Davison for stepping in to coach the boys on the day.
