School Advisory Council

School Advisory Council Meeting Summary - Wednesday 11th September

SAC Meeting 11 September 2024

The term is almost finished and again a very busy term!

This meeting we had a lengthy explanation of the Berry Street Education Model by Jenny Todd. It is all about emotional wellbeing on creating a safe and inclusive environments. Every class takes ownership in designing a clear set of expectations for their year level and to have adaptable learners. The model looks at: Body - Ready to learn, Relationships in being connected, creating a sense of belonging and self-care, Stamina- keeping kids engaged and creating persistence, Engagement - positive priming, positive engagement and Character - feelings of hope. We were explained  the Restorative Conversation process: www What went well? Question that is often asked the students. The aim is to have respectful relationships and repair conversations. We also went through the official Complaints Handling Policies and the Student Behaviour Policies which are very detailed and explicit.

Planning for the combined school Fete will start early next term.

Megan spoke about the rigorous process to check new staff for Child Safety purposes.

St Joseph’s has 15 preps enrolled for next year but hoping the year after the numbers will be higher with siblings but meanwhile do talk about our wonderful school, the teachers, the community and the improvements to come.

The wall has been cleared by the structural engineer we are waiting on Council to approve to open the pathway. If anyone is interested in more detailed information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kindest regards,

Adriana Rios
