Men's Lunch
The inaugural St. Joseph's (SJ) vs. Sacred Heart (SH) Golf Classic was held last Friday attracting 72 players and 90 lunch guests. What started as a casual idea during a daycare catch-up among families at the Auburn Hotel blossomed into an incredible day of golf, networking, and fundraising, with over 30 generous sponsors stepping in—many of them school dads' and local businesses.
The goal of using golf to bring the community closer exceeded all expectations. The event offered a fantastic opportunity for dads' from both schools to connect and bond, creating lasting friendships and a sense of camaraderie across school lines.
The day kicked off with breakfast, registration and a group photo. The golf was competitive yet fun, with the 4-man ambrose format pitting the two schools against each other for the prestigious cup. On the course, players enjoyed exciting activations, including:
- BuyerX "Photo of the Day" challenge
- Hedgeworth gift bag hole
- Ultrabet Bonus Bet Par3
- Drummond Golf demo driverand the much-anticipated Mercedes-Benz Hole-in-One challenge.
After a thrilling day of golf, the celebration continued as Matt Dixon took the stage to host the presentations. AFL legends Chris Johnson and Xavier Clarke entertained the crowd with their insights and humorous stories, while Antony Woodley led the live auction. A raffle featuring amazing donated items followed, before the grand prize presentation.
With much excitement, the winning school was revealed: Sacred Heart, by a narrow margin of just 4 shots! The coveted cup will remain with Sacred Heart until the next face-off in 2025.
This incredible event not only brought two schools closer together, but also highlighted the power of community, teamwork, and generosity. Here's to many more Golf Classics in the future!

Sacred Heart Meals Service
What is the meals service?
The Sacred Heart Meals Service is available to all Sacred Heart families that require some practical help in the form of meals at a time of need. This may be due to a very happy occasion such as a new birth in the family, or in more difficult circumstances such as a death or illness in a family.
How does it work?
The Meals Service Coordinators can be contacted by a teacher, class rep, member of the Parents Association, a friend within the school or the family members themselves. The coordinators would then contact the family to chat about what would be helpful (e.g. how often, favourite meals, dietary requirements etc) and then coordinate the service, requesting assistance from the relevant year level.
It’s important to note that we are very careful in being discreet at all times and maintaining confidentiality, ensuring the family are happy with what information (if any) is passed on to those we are asking to assist.
We can be contacted via the following methods:
Amy McIvor
Ph 0411 034 463
Caroline O’Sullivan
Ph 0419 100 964
Please feel free to reach out to either of us with any questions, we are here to help!
Kind regards,
Caroline O’Sullivan (Billy Year 3) and Amy McIvor (Rafferty Year 2)
