Please refer to the department policy for further information regarding Time In Lieu.

Timetables

Please refer to the school timetable found on the Portal for information regarding specialist programs, PLTs, APT, the meeting structure and active supervision duties. If you have any questions regarding timetables, please see Matthew Gravatt (Operations & Business Manager). School Daily Organisation is supported by Matt Gravatt.

Toilets

All children must be given permission to go the toilet when requested. It is the policy that all children must be supervised to and from the toilet area to ensure safety. Your ES staff member can facilitate this for you. In some buildings, students are not required to leave the building to access the toilets. Some primary school classes will need students to leave their buildings to go to the toilet. Students are encouraged to visit the toilet during recess and lunch times to minimise interruptions to learning time. During recess and lunchtime, internal doors are locked to discourage students from entering the building.  Staff on yard duty at break times must regularly check external toilets.

Prep Transition

Kindergarten to Prep transition is an important part of preparing students for school. Local kindergartens will often recommend students to attend Jackson School at various times throughout the year. The families are encouraged to have their child assessed with a psychologist to ascertain if an intellectual disability is likely. Once confirmed and the parents/carers decide to send their child/ren to Jackson School the prospective student will be involved in three Prep transition sessions in Term four to become familiar with the school and to welcome new families.

Year 6/7 Transition

Year 6/7 Reviews take place to ensure students moving to Year 7 are still assessed with an IQ under 70. If students assess above 70 they are slowly transferred to mainstream education. Students assessed below 70 move to Year 7 in the secondary department, of Jackson school.

Post Year 12 Transition

Students begin the transition from Jackson School to post-school options in Year 11 and early Year 12 to ensure they are placed in the best possible setting. It is the role of the Careers & Pathways Coordinator to meet with parents/carers, interview the students and explore options for each student to ensure a successful
