Knox Division Winter Sport Achievements

Earlier this term, we had many of our Year 5 and 6 teams advance and compete at the Knox Division Winter Sport Finals for A.F.L, Netball, Soccer and Teeball. It was a week full of sporting action, with students putting in strong efforts on both the field and the courts. Student athletes of St Simon demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork, supporting one another and playing with integrity.

Well done to our Netball Boys who came 4th overall after their 6 round robin games! Our girls team came 5th overall and showed excellent composure with their movement and passes. Thank you to Tanja for coaching the side and making it a fun experience for them.

In the A.F.L, our boys' side were upbeat and pumped for their games. Their first match ended in an easy win 52-13. However, their second and third games ended in losses by 1 goal in each game. Overall, our boys ended positively with a win in their consolidation final and came 5th overall.

Our two Teeball teams competed at Gilbert Park. Our girls displayed great fielding and batting skills and came 3rd overall on the day. Our boys/mixed team used the day as a valuable opportunity to develop their communication skills and gameplay. In the end they were very proud of their effort coming 6th place.

Our highlight of the Division competitions was our Soccer Girls team. Strong defence and excellent shots at goal from Isabella B and Samia D (including one goal from half way down the field) made the difference in their games. Luckily the girls made it to the finals on goal difference and won in a thrilling 4-1 victory. CONGRATULATIONS to our girls on their brilliant achievement!!!!

A.F.L. Girls - Runners Up

Soccer Girls Qualifiers

Our students recently represented the school at the Eastern Metropolitan Regional competitions with outstanding results.

  • A.F.L. Girls –The team displayed outstanding determination and teamwork, going undefeated in their pool matches. Riding this momentum, the girls delivered an impressive 55–21 victory in the semi-final. After a long day of games, fatigue began to set in, but the team fought hard in the grand final before narrowly falling short, 22–40. Finishing as Runners Up and bringing home the pennant, our girls proudly ranked as the second-best school in the Eastern Metropolitan Region. This is an exceptional achievement and a testament to their dedication, resilience, and passion for footy

  • Soccer Girls – Congratulations to our Soccer Girls team on their strong performance at the regional stage. Although they faced tough competition and lost their first two pool games, the girls finished on a high with a well-deserved 2–1 victory in their final match.

We couldn’t be prouder of both teams—not only for their fantastic achievements but also for the pride and sportsmanship they showed in representing our school.
