WELLBEING HAPPENINGS

It has been a very busy term for the Wellbeing Team with Student Support Plan reviews, Check-in Assessments, RU OK day planning, the beginning of our transition program for 6 into 7 and Bully Zero presentations.
Check In Assessments
Over the last two weeks the team has been busy conducting Check-in assessments. These are annual online assessments for students in Years 7 to 9. All students completed a reading test and a numeracy test comprised of 50 questions each. These assessments support the identification of students' performance in literacy and numeracy and inform next steps in teaching and learning.
Macqlit
At the beginning of this term we have had two groups who have worked extremely hard and graduated from the MacqLit program. MacqLit is a intensive literacy program for students who have been identified as requiring extra support to build on their reading skills. We have two more groups of students settled into the MacqLit routine and look forward to seeing them build on their skills and confidence as they progress through the program.
RU OK Day
The Wellbeing Team is busy preparing for the annual RU OK Day activities. On September 11th, all students are invited to participate in a range of activities and competitions as we come together to recognise the importance of connections and meaningful conversations - all while having fun! More details about the day will be released in the coming weeks.
Bully Zero
Year 7, 8 and 9 will soon be visited by the fantastic presenters from Bully Zero Australia. Bully Zero is Australia's leading organisation delivering face to face programs on cyber safety, bullying prevention, wellbeing and resilience. As a school, we often work with outside organisations and resources to support student wellbeing and to support an inclusive environment. More information will be available to parents in the lead up to the workshops.
Successful Play-Based Learning Experience
Thank You to Our Preschool Partners and Congratulations to Our Students!
We are delighted to share the success of a recent learning activity conducted by our Year 9 Child Studies students. As part of their studies, students created and facilitated play-based learning activities with a group of preschoolers who visited our high school. This provided valuable hands-on experience in early childhood education within our school environment.
A special thank you goes to the preschool staff at Jack and Jill, for organising and supporting the preschoolers’ visit. Your cooperation ensured a smooth and positive experience for everyone involved, and your ongoing partnership is greatly appreciated.
We also want to commend our Year 9 students for their creativity, enthusiasm, and professionalism throughout this project. Their thoughtful planning and ability to engage with the preschoolers demonstrated a strong understanding of play-based learning and a genuine commitment to early childhood education.
This successful collaboration has been invaluable in helping our students develop practical skills and deepen their knowledge. We look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership in the future.
Thank you once again to both the preschool staff and our dedicated students for making this experience such a meaningful success!
