Message from the Principal

Senior Leadership Team News
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to let you know that Mrs Audrey Fellowes has advised me of her decision to resign from her position as Deputy Principal – Pastoral | Head of Primary at Clayfield College, effective at the end of the 2025 school year.
While we will miss Audrey’s leadership and genuine care for our students, we respect and support her decision and wish her every happiness as she prepares to embrace her next chapter.
We will immediately commence the important process of appointing a new leader who will build upon Audrey’s legacy. As our College continues to grow, we are also further developing our Middle Leadership structure across both the Primary and Secondary Schools. This student-centred framework - already underway - will strengthen our ability to know, value and understand each student. I look forward to sharing further updates with you shortly.
On behalf of the entire Clayfield community, I extend our gratitude for Audrey’s invaluable contributions since joining Team Clayfield in 2020. Audrey has been a respected member of our Senior Leadership Team and a tireless advocate for the holistic development of our students. In recognition of her leadership, Audrey was named an Excellence Awardee for Primary School Principal of the Year (Non-Government) at the 2023 Australian Education Awards.
During Audrey’s tenure, the Primary School has experienced unprecedented growth. Her vision and commitment have been widespread, from fostering academic rigour to supporting student wellbeing and building strong connections with families. She introduced evidence-based literacy programs, championed inquiry-based learning including the much-loved Bush School, and expanded specialist subjects throughout the Primary School. Additionally, she developed a wide range of Primary clubs and after-school activities, enriched the calendar of Primary celebrations, and thoughtfully revitalised the Primary facilities.
Her impact extends beyond the Primary School. As Deputy Principal – Pastoral, she led the development and implementation of our College-wide wellbeing framework, Care@Clayfield. This framework incorporates weekly Pulse Check-ins to promote gratitude and emotional awareness, along with a dedicated parent event series designed to strengthen home–school partnerships.
Audrey has shared that her decision was not made lightly. She is looking forward to spending more time with her family before considering what may come next.
We will take time later this year to formally thank and celebrate Audrey for her significant contributions. In the meantime, I know you will join me in offering her our very best wishes.
I thank Audrey once again for her outstanding service and leadership.
Warm regards,
Dr Andrew Cousins
Principal
