Learning in Year 4
What's been happening in Year 4..
Can you believe it's halfway through Term 3 already!? The Students have been working hard across all subject areas and participating in a range of exciting activities. Some have attended Hoop Time, and we have District Athletics coming up. Production rehearsals are well underway, and we enjoying the Book Week celebrations this week, in particular our online session with Andy Griffiths for the launch of his new book!
A gentle reminder for families: please ensure students are getting enough sleep and eating a nutritious breakfast each morning. In our weekly wellbeing check-ins, many students have mentioned feeling tired or skipping breakfast, and both can have a big impact on their learning and focus throughout the day.
We also encourage you to please pack extra food during swimming in Weeks 7 and 8.
Literacy
In Literacy, our students have been bursting with creativity! They’ve been crafting their own imaginative narratives while also building impressive reading stamina through our daily fluency reads. A real highlight was an exciting online writing webinar all about the 7 Steps of Writing. Students discovered top tips for creating sizzling starts and exciting endings, then put their new skills into action by writing their very own short stories. We are so proud of the amazing ideas and enthusiasm they brought to their writing!
Maths
In Maths, we’ve been busy exploring all things multiplication and division! Students have been tackling challenging problems, learning new strategies, and building their confidence with times tables. We have now moved into our Fractions and Decimals unit, where students are discovering how fractions and decimals are connected in fun and practical ways. Encourage your child to share what they’ve learned and if you have access to these websites at home it will be great for extra revision of these concepts.

Pen Licenses
It has been an exciting time in Year 4 as we are now working towards receiving our pen licenses! Congratulations to the students who have received them! Keep working hard on your goals to receive yours.
