There is lot’s of amazing learning going on in Grade 2. Read below to find out more:

🔢 Mathematics

Over the next few weeks, our focus will be on the four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We will build on previous learning by working with larger numbers (over 100!) and tackling more complex problems. Students will have plenty of opportunities to apply their knowledge and practise their skills using a variety of engaging, hands-on resources.

📖 Literacy

In Literacy, we continue our daily practice of phonograms, spelling, and grammar rules through the Spalding program. During writing sessions, we are exploring information texts—examining their features and learning how to craft our own. In reading, our focus has been on understanding the features and purposes of different text types. Students are continuing to refine their reading strategies, including predicting, inferring, summarising, and making connections.

🌱 Integrated Studies: Farm to Table

Students have thoroughly enjoyed our Integrated Studies sessions, learning about food and where it comes from. A highlight was making butter from scratch (see photos below)—and tasting their delicious creation! We are especially looking forward to our trip to Myuna Farm on August 25th, which will bring all of our learning to life.

📖 Wellbeing

Students have enjoyed exploring the Zones Of Regulation. These zones organise our often complex feelings and energy levels into four coloured Zones - Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. We have explored the four different zones in detail. The kid-friendly language and visual structure helps students identify not only their own feelings but the feelings of those around them, so we can all better support each other.
