Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Australian Catholic Education Conference

Last week I attended the Australian Catholic Education Conference in Cairns, where educators gathered under the theme “hope, anchored in faith.” Keynote speakers focused on the importance of family engagement, meaningful assessment, and building strong school communities – all areas that connect closely with the work we are doing here at Sacred Heart. I look forward to sharing these ideas with staff in the weeks ahead.

Book Week

For the first time in many years, I missed Book Week at school, but I have seen the wonderful photos of costumes, reading celebrations and the teacher’s performance. A big thank you to Yolanda and all the staff for their work with Book Week. Thanks also to the office staff for their excellent display in the foyer of the school. It is efforts like this that help make this such a special week for our students. Finally, to all the parents who made an effort to show up on the day and support the kids - THANKS.

Learning Walks

We warmly invite our current parents to join us for one of our upcoming Learning Walks. These sessions are much more than a school tour – they provide an opportunity to see our classrooms in action, experience how learning happens at Sacred Heart, ask questions and engage with other parents. If you would like to attend the upcoming Learning Walks on either of the following dates:

Tuesday 9 September   or   Tuesday 11 November from 9:00am - 10:00am

Please RSVP by emailing office@shcolac.catholic.edu.au.

To keep the experience personal and engaging, numbers will be limited to 12 parents per group. More information is posted in the newsletter.

Cup of Tea After Assembly - September 5

Parents and friends are warmly invited to join us for a cup of tea/coffee after assembly from 10:00am - 10:30am on September 5. This tradition was a much-loved part of our community before COVID-19, and we are excited to bring it back on a termly basis. It’s a simple but valuable way to connect with other parents, share conversation, and strengthen the sense of community that makes Sacred Heart so special.

Kind regards,

Karl Dwyer
