Clever Kids

KJ

At the beginning of this term, we have celebrated 100 Days of Kindergarten, learning about all things 100 and dressing up for a fun day.

We have had visiting teachers in our classroom to help with our learning. Ms Holland and Ms D have also been working with some students to enhance their learning.

KJ learnt about a cat character called Floof. We had lots of fun drawing him, discussing his characteristics, making him with paper and Katie even went home and made him as a pizza!

We are discussing living things in our science unit, looking at lots of different bugs and plants under the microscope. We are also hoping to have some class pets soon?????????

We continue learning with our classmates on lots of activities during group time. We even dressed up with our Year 6 buddies when they came for a visit.

During NAIDOC week, we used clay and some plants from the school indigenous garden to create an artwork which will be fired in the kiln. We had fun collecting the plants and working with our parents.

We are looking forward to our farm excursion in week 10.

Technology:

Mrs Williams has been working with us to program the Dashbots. Mrs Jones had to learn as well! Here is what some students had to say:

Olive- Mrs Williams brings the Dashbots. We have to control them by using the Ipads.

Alexander- We needed to calculate the number of squares on the carpet.

Imad- We hold the Dashbots nicely.

Tessa- We learn coding. We are telling the Dashbots where to go.

KP

KP are having lots of fun with their learning. 100 days of kindergarten was a great way to start the term. Everyone dressed up and did activities that involved 100.

Students have been using lots of manipulatives when doing maths tasks and reading books that require lots of imagination.

They made pets out of playdough, giving them names and learning how to care for them. This compliments our science unit involving living and non-living things.

KP have the pleasure of Ms Holland and Mrs D to assist students in the classroom who need additional support and to extend the learning of higher achieving students.

KP are loving working with Mrs Williams and learning to code with the Dashbots.

Orlando said he loves it because ‘it’s just cool’.

Nicolas likes to drive the Dashbot under the chairs.

Camryn tries to do the impossible by drawing a twister like image on the iPad and expecting poor Dash to be able to follow the path.

Students are excited about the farm excursion at the end of the term. It is always a great learning experience.

What’s been happening in 3/4M?

We have had a super busy start to term 3, with lots of new learning, parent teacher conferences, NAIDOC celebrations, the athletics carnival and Gala Day! We have been gathering knowledge about Ned Kelly in our English Unit and deciding on whether or not we think he’s a hero or villain. We even had the opportunity to create our own Ned Kelly artwork inspired by the book we are reading. In mathematics we have been learning to use standard and non-standard partitioning when solving subtraction problems. Last week we finally had our postponed athletics carnival, where we all got to engage in a number of races and novelty events. We were lucky that the sun decided to come out and make it a beautiful day. We celebrated NAIDOC as a whole school where we had a special assembly, and our parents came into our classroom and joined us for some dot painting art. We have had so much fun so far this term, and we cannot wait to tell you about all the exciting things we have coming up for the rest of the term!

Celebrating Achievements and Culture: Exciting Times in 4LH

4LH has been buzzing with excitement over the past few weeks, packed with memorable events and special moments! A huge shoutout to our very own Baneen, who impressed us all by making it to the finals of the Premier’s Spelling Bee—what an incredible achievement! Our gala days have been a fantastic opportunity to connect. Being part of the three-way interview process this term alongside our teachers and families, fostering strong partnerships and sharing goals has been a fantastic experience.

While the rain tried to dampen our plans by cancelling a few events, including the athletics carnival, we’ve been making the most of it by rescheduling and enjoying every moment to the fullest. One of the standout highlights was our vibrant NAIDOC celebration last week. We were thrilled to welcome families into our open classrooms, sharing our learning and creativity together. A particular highlight was performing a multimedia video for the NAIDOC assembly, bringing to life the Dreamtime story of Tiddalick the Frog—a powerful way to connect with culture and storytelling.

With so much behind us, we’re eagerly looking forward to the next five weeks in Year 4, ready for more learning adventures and unforgettable experiences!

Stage 3

56BG

Stage 3 students have enjoyed a busy and exciting term! We kicked off with our thrilling Gala Sport Day, where students showcased their teamwork and sportsmanship. Our NAIDOC Assembly and celebration provided a meaningful opportunity to acknowledge and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. The Athletics Carnival was another highlight, with students demonstrating great enthusiasm and determination across a range of events.

We also held our 3-Way Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences, fostering strong communication and collaboration to support each student’s learning journey. Kids Helpline was another highlight so far this term giving us some amazing information and insights to help navigate our way to becoming better cyber citizens.

Looking ahead, Stage 3 students will participate in additional transition days to prepare for their move to high school, ensuring a smooth and confident start to their learning journey.

Kids Helpline Review

(By Phinehas The Awesome and Harper The great)

Harper’s review

The kids helpline session taught us more about cyberbullying and the causes and effects of it. It told us about how people might not realize that they’re being mean, or that the victim might be unsure that the upstander is trying to help them.It told us how you might not see the impact of your bullying but it does impact many people leading to sadness, loneliness, and being scared. It also showed us ways to stop cyberbullying in online groups or chats. We brain- -stormed rules to make sure the group is a safe environment for everyone. We also played games to get to know each other and see everyone's different opinions and teamwork. Maddy (The host) was very nice and didn't judge anything we said.

Phinehas’(The awesome) Review  22/08/2025

Here is my reflection  on today's Kids Helpline Session.

Of all the things that I learnt today I would have to highlight the section that really emphasised the importance of really understanding that your words can hurt much more than you realized.

Because just because you can't see the impact of your words doesn’t mean you should still leave the vile comments that are so commonly found on the popular websites of Twitter and Instagram(ect.) Some of the most commonly found symptoms of the hurtful comments left behind can be:

  • Sadness
  • Being left alone
  • Being scared
  • Loss of self-esteem
  • Anxiety
  • Social development hindered

This is just off the top of my head. Now can you imagine that everybody left these mean comments about other people. How would the world look then?? The world would be a desolate place filled with depressed people that are constantly checking their screens to see the horrible comments that follow their wake.

This brings me to the conclusion of my review of today’s Kids Helpline Session. So I would like to draw the vital conclusion that leaving mean comments isn’t okay.

K-6 Koalas

K/6 Koalas had a fantastic excursion to Campbelltown City Bowl in Week 2. We practiced turn-taking, aim, rolling skills and patience alongside our teammates. Four of our K/6 Koala students were selected to represent Woodland Road Public School as part of the School Sport Unit Tenpin Bowling competition! This was held in Week 4 at Campbelltown City Bowl. Even better? We came in first place! Our little legends are now in the running to play at the state finals in Week 10, so keep your eyes peeled for the results in Term 4.
