Principal's Report

We’re now into the final month of term and each week seems to be racing by.
Book Week
A big thanks to families for embracing Book Week. The kids certainly enjoyed the activities that ran across the week and especially loved the dress up day on Friday. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to help your children dress up for the day. We know that requires an effort, but it’s certainly worth it. And well done to Mrs Anderson who did a great job building excitement for the week and organising engaging activities for the kids.
Music Scholarship Band
Yesterday we had the Music Scholarship Band perform at the Kids' Day Out event in Bacchus Marsh. This was a great experience for the kids, both in terms of seeing what kids from other schools were doing but also providing another opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Mr Skilbeck was very impressed with how the band performed and how the students managed the day. Looks like this event will become something we register for each year.
Grade 5/6 Melbourne Camp
For the second half of this week, I get to be part of the 5/6 Melbourne Camp. I enjoy being part of all camps and the Melbourne camp is no exception. This camp always provides lots of learning and fun. Melbourne camp is designed to help our students become familiar with the city and more confident finding their way round, particularly with the use of public transport. The weather forecast isn’t looking great, but that won’t slow us down too much. Well done to the 5/6 Team who have done an excellent job preparing for the camp, as we know this one requires a lot of organisation. And thanks in advance to the parents who are coming along to help out. Having lots of adults enables us to move around in small groups, keeping everyone safe.
Thanks Again to Buninyong & Mt Helen Lion’s Club
Last week David Page from the Buninyong & Mt Helen Lion’s Club visited to meet with the Ready Set Grow Team and present a donation of $1000. This money will be used for the purchase of assorted gardening materials. A big thank you to the Lion’s Club for their ongoing support, and on this occasion, for enabling the Ready Set Grow Team to continue their valuable work.
Parent Surveys
Last week all parents and carers received an invitation to participate in a Parent/Guardian Survey via Compass. We’d really appreciate you spending the time to complete that survey.
The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, community engagement in learning, teaching practices for student engagement and outcomes, and attitudes towards school attendance. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
Surveys are conducted online, only take 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. All responses to the survey are anonymous.
