Hoxton Park Campus Update

Facilities & Strategic Direction
Alhamdulillāh, our Hoxton Park library has undergone a beautiful facelift, transforming into a vibrant centre of learning and creativity. New glass partitions now create three flexible spaces for learning and professional development, while carefully designed signs and displays inspire a love for Arabic language and script. As part of our broader identity efforts, we are delighted to propose the name: House of Wisdom (Bayt al-Ḥikmah) – Hoxton Park Library
Inspired by the historic House of Wisdom in Baghdad — one of the greatest Islamic libraries and centres of knowledge — this name reflects our vision that “Knowledge is Light.” It symbolises our commitment to scholarship, creativity, and excellence, while inspiring learners to connect with the legacy of Islamic civilisation.
This initiative, alongside the MFIS Strategic Plan 2024–2026, grounds our work in tajdīd (renewal): embedding taqwā, akhlāq, and iḥsān, strengthening family partnerships, and nurturing belonging across our community.
HP Hosting the CITE Forum
Alhamdulillāh, Hoxton Park proudly hosted the recent CITE Forum, welcoming colleagues and Islamic school partners, including guests from interstate. We were privileged to learn from Sister Elma Harder, who presented on “Curriculum Integration through a Qur’anic Worldview.” The forum provided a valuable platform for professional dialogue, reflection, and collaboration. Sister Elma’s presentation encouraged participants to explore how “themes” as curriculum anchors can align design and pedagogy with Qur’anic principles, fostering critical learning rooted in Islam.
The event strengthened collaboration between schools and built capacity for excellence in Islamic education. We extend heartfelt thanks to our student leaders who supported the forum, exemplifying Graduate Qualities of leadership, service, respect, effective communication, and empathy.
Niyyah Morning Gathering
Each morning, primary and secondary assemblies begin with Qur’ān recitation and five-minute talks, grounding students in faith and values. This term’s themes — Raḥmah (Mercifulness), Muḥāsabah (Accountability), and Inḍibāṭ al-Waqt (Punctuality) — have inspired mindfulness in learning, relationships, and worship.
Listening to Qur’ān before prayer has further cultivated calmness, respect, and unity across the school. Charity also remained a focus, with students fundraising for orphans in Palestine, living the Prophetic teaching: “The believers, in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy, are like one body.” (Bukhari & Muslim).
Primary & Secondary Learning
Farewell to Year 12
This term marks the final chapter for our Year 12 students as they prepare for the HSC. We are immensely proud of their dedication, resilience, and growth, and we thank their teachers for their tireless support. As we bid them farewell, we pray Allah ﷻ grants them tawfīq, clarity of mind, and barakah in their efforts, and that they go on to benefit their families, communities, and the Ummah.
Primary Focus
Primary learners embraced As-Sidq (truthfulness), Ta’āwun (cooperation), and Juhd (effort) while developing as critical thinkers and collaborators. Key initiatives included:
Buddy Reading: pairing younger learners with older peers to nurture reading confidence, leadership, and ukhūwah.
Lunch Clubs: creating safe, engaging spaces for games, discussions, and creativity, often student-led through the SSC.
Cooking Club: giving K–6 students hands-on opportunities to prepare healthy dishes while building teamwork, nutrition awareness, and confidence.
Secondary Focus
In Term 4, the Iḥsān Innovation Project (Classroom Excellence) will launch as a trial. This initiative introduces student movement between subject-based classrooms, fostering independence, responsibility, and deeper engagement while equipping spaces for specialised learning.
Wellbeing initiatives this term included anti-bullying awareness, new student induction, lockdown preparedness, and improved afternoon dispersal through sibling passes. Together, these efforts support a safe, efficient, and nurturing environment for all learners.
Co-Curricular Excellence
Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee: Nearly 200 students from Years 3–8 competed with resilience and accuracy. We now look forward to Book Week and the K–6 Character Parade.
iSlam Poetry Slam: Focused on Palestine, this platform empowered students to explore justice and resilience through spoken word. Special thanks to Dr Ozan and Mr Saeed for leading this initiative.
Science Week: Led by Year 10 under Mr Naidoo, Mr Maharaj, and Mr Wayiz, creative experiments and projects engaged students K–10, sparking curiosity and a “science fever” across campus.
Student Shura Council: Continued leadership in service with clean-ups, lunchtime clubs, and initiatives promoting respect, inclusion, and responsibility.
Sports: Professional soccer coaching (Years 3–10) and gymnastics (K–2) promoted discipline and health. Our Stage 4 girls’ Oztag team proudly reached the semi-finals at the Harmony Cup.
The Amānah Volunteers – Tackling Lost Property
This term, Year 10 students identified lost property as a real-world challenge and formed the Amānah Volunteers. Guided by their inspiration, they drafted plans for a Lost Property Website to log, track, and return items more efficiently. This innovation reflects values of amānah (trust), responsibility, and service. We are excited to see their initiative develop, in shā’ Allāh.
Meraki – A Student-Led Legacy
A historic milestone this term was the launch of our first student-led magazine, Meraki, initiated by the Year 12 SSC. Providing a creative outlet for student voices and talents, Meraki will continue as a legacy project, passed on to the 2026 cohort to ensure creativity, leadership, and expression remain central to Hoxton Park life.
✨ Term 3 has been marked by growth, creativity, and service — all rooted in Islamic values. From the House of Wisdom library to the launch of Meraki, our students continue to embody our motto: “Knowledge is Light.”
