Foundation
First Day
The Foundation students had a cracking first day of school on 31st January. The day started with the Foundation students having their photos taken to capture this special milestone. Throughout the day they had the opportunity to learn new routines, explore the yard and eat their yummy snacks. In the classroom we made some super star crowns and explored the new Foundation classrooms!
Fruit Break
Each morning during our literacy block, the Foundation students stop to enjoy a yummy fruit snack. This gives the students an opportunity to stop, re-energise and continue to learn lots! Please ensure you pack your child a piece of fruit or vegetable snack that they like every day!
InitiaLit
The year has started with the Foundation students learning literacy with 'InitiaLit'. We have learnt what words are, how words can make sentences and rhyming, and have since moved onto syllables! The students have done a great job engaging enthusiastically in all the lessons.
Last week the Foundation students came home with their new reader bags. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to be reading to your child and documenting this into your child’s home reading diary. In the coming weeks Mrs Fleming and Mrs Hotchkiss will tick when it is time for you to complete the activities that are throughout the home reading diary.
Years 1 and 2
What a wonderful start the Years 1 and 2 area has had to the 2025 school year!
Although it has been a sizzling hot start, students have transitioned well with many smiles on their faces. We have embraced our new line up, entry and exit routines and are taking care of our new learning spaces by 'leaving no trace' at the end of the day.
We have our exciting Year 1 Stayback and Year 2 Sleepover coming up soon, so keep an eye on Operoo for information.
Year 1 Stayback: Thursday 27th February
Year 2 Sleepover: Thursday 6th March
Reminders:
Students are encouraged to read at home each night so please ensure reader bags are sent to school with your child each morning.
Art smocks are great for keeping your child's uniform clean and there is a tub in the classroom for your child to pop theirs in.
Library books can only be borrowed with a library bag, so please send these in on your child's library day.
Sneakers/runners can be worn on the day your child has sport.
If you are unsure which day your child has each specialist class, please contact your child's TA.
We enjoy a fruit break in class each day, this is a great way to give us an energy boost and help us reset between learning activities.
We have begun the year with some testing and assessments to see each child's point of need and now these tasks are finished, we are looking forward to fully working on all our new learning areas for the term.
In Mathematics the Year 1 students have been investigating tally marks and data, whilst the Year 2 students have been developing their counting and place value skills.
In Literacy we are revising our letter and sound knowledge, tricky word spelling, use of basic punctuation, nouns and verbs. We are excited to begin our new 'Story book' lessons as part of our new program 'InitiaLit'.
In RE our first unit for the year is 'We can pray in different ways', whilst our Inquiry focus is digital technologies.
We hope you enjoy some photos of us in our new Year 1 and Year 2 learning spaces for the year.
Years 3 and 4
Over the past two weeks, students in Years 3 and 4 have been focusing on establishing new routines in their learning spaces and they have been doing an excellent job of preparing for each day.
As part of their literature studies, Year 3 students are currently reading Matilda by Roald Dahl, while Year 4 students are enjoying Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. Students are actively engaging with these texts by reading, listening and analysing various literary elements to deepen their understanding of the stories. Well done to all students for their positive start to the year.
