Class Celebrations

Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...

Prep

This term in Science, Prep students have been learning about their five senses. This week, we have been focusing on our sense of smell. The children had to put their sense of smell to test and make a prediction about what they thought was in each one of the four cups. The children then drew a picture of their prediction before the contents were revealed. The children did an amazing job at using their sense of smell to identify the different objects. Great job Preps.

Year 1

This week during our English Unit: Fables and Folktales, we read the story Issun Boshi. In the story, Issun Boshi's brave deeds were celebrated throughout the land. The vocab word we focused on was 'deed'. Students then wrote their own Good Deed Award to a member of the learning community. We were amazed by caring community members in Year 1!

Year 2

Our Year 2 students have been learning about the history of trams in our Humanities Unit: Changing Melbourne. They learnt about trams of the past which were horse drawn. This led them to the present day where Melbourne has the largest tram network in the world!

Our students then turned their attention to the future by designing ‘Trams of the Future!’ They let their imagination run wild with futuristic features. Let's hope that some of these designs become reality!

Year 3

Our Year 3 students have been exploring human senses and movement in Science. A highlight has been integrating table tennis into lessons, allowing them to experience firsthand how the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems work during physical activity. The students are loving playing table tennis and are rapidly improving their skills! This week we learned about inventions that can help with senses and movement such as hearing aids and braille.

Year 4

This term, our Year 4 students have been participating in a science unit called, 'Healthy Me'. Students are learning about the importance of physical activity and exploring various ways to be active. Last week, students participated in an exciting In-Visit run by FunFit. Students participated in a variety of circus skill activities. They juggled, twirled and threw sticks, and practised a range of hula hooping skills. It was so wonderful to see our students listening to instructions beautifully and not giving up. The Year 4 teachers are so proud of you all!

Year 5

Our Year 5 students recently had the opportunity to participate in a First Aid In-Visit. They eagerly engaged with the practical demonstrations, learning essential life-saving skills such as CPR and how to handle emergency situations. The Year 5 students quickly grasped these important concepts and were eager to demonstrate their abilities at the top of the classroom. Their willingness to ask questions highlighted their eagerness to learn and be prepared to help others in times of need. Well done, Year 5!

Year 6

Every Monday afternoon, our Year 6 students meet as a year level in what we call a team ‘Huddle’. During the Huddle we bring up reminders, discuss a routine of the week, a character trait of the week and express community gratitude. It has been such a pleasure to listen to our students share stories to recognise the kindness they have seen from each other, their teachers and their parents. What an amazing community to be part of! We can’t wait for another fortnight of learning and kindness in Year 6!
