Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden 2025
Over the past fortnight, 3/4CB have embraced the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden (SAKG) program with enthusiasm and pride. Our budding gardeners have been hard at work, harvesting an abundance of delicious tomatoes. This week, we had the pleasure of using these fresh tomatoes, along with fragrant basil from our garden, to create the tastiest bruschetta.
With school finishing early for parent-teacher interviews, we adapted our session to a delightful picnic-style menu. The children enjoyed a spread of bruschetta, guacamole, baked pita triangles, watermelon, and chocolate balls. We were especially thrilled to harvest a whopping 12kg watermelon—what an incredible size!
Last week, we also harvested some beautifully vibrant butternut pumpkins, which were used to make a delicious pasta dish. The bright orange flesh was perfect for our lunch and a true testament to the students' hard work in the garden last year.
A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers: Rosie (Lewis's Mum), Katy (Georgina's Mum), Kathy (Kiara’s Mum), Maddie (Zoe's Cousin), and Kathy (Luka's Grandma). Your support is invaluable and we couldn't run the program without you.
We look forward to more garden-fresh delights in the weeks to come followed by lots of cooking skills in the kitchen.
Arigatou!
