Grade 6

It’s been a fantastic start to the year for the Year 6 students! In the first two weeks back, students have participated in our Positive Start program, which focuses on setting up positive routines and expectations in both the classroom and the yard, to ensure everyone feels welcomed and ready to learn.
We’ve also been reflecting on our school’s PROUD values – Performance, Respect, Open-minded, United, and Daring – and how these guide our actions and interactions. The students have already been demonstrating these values through their daily activities, showing respect to one another and approaching their learning with an open and daring attitude.
In addition to this, we’ve started an exciting novel study on Rivet Boy by Barbara Henderson. The students are really enjoying the story and are looking forward to exploring it further, engaging in discussions and critical thinking along the way.
In Maths, we’ve kicked off with BODMAS (Brackets, Orders, Division and Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction), which is already sparking some great problem-solving skills among the students. They’re excited to put their new knowledge into practice as we continue to build on their mathematical understanding.
The first two weeks have been filled with enthusiasm, and we’re excited for the year ahead. Year 6 is off to a great start, and we look forward to the many learning experiences and adventures to come!
