For those existing families, I am very excited to share another school year with you and your families. To those new to our community, I am looking forward to getting to know you as the year progresses. I hope you all had a restful and joy-filled holiday and are ready to embark on a year of learning, growth, and faith.
This year is particularly special as Pope Francis has proclaimed it a Jubilee Year, with the theme, Pilgrims of Hope. This Jubilee year is a time for reconciliation, renewal and experiencing God’s mercy. In a world that needs hope, we are called to fan the flame of hope and help everyone look to the future with trust.
As a Catholic school, our faith is at the heart of everything we do. We have a range of celebrations coming up this term which I hope you will join us to continue to strengthen our community and deepen our spiritual lives together.
We will commence the year with our Opening School Mass and Commissioning of our school leaders on Friday 28th February at 9am. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a school community, give thanks for the blessings in our lives, and ask for guidance and inspiration for the year ahead.
In a few weeks, we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week. We will open this special week with a liturgy at Monday morning assembly on 3rd March. This week is a special time to recognise and celebrate the unique gift that Catholic education offers our children and our community.
As we move further into the term, we will begin our Lenten journey. Lent is a time for reflection, prayer, and almsgiving, as we prepare our hearts for the Easter season. We will be engaging in activities in the classroom to help students understand the meaning of Lent and how they can grow closer to God during this time. Children will also have the opportunity to participate in Mass as well as a variety of prayer sessions in the classroom and the church, including Stations of the Cross as we commemorate Holy Week.
As always, your involvement helps us to create a vibrant and faith-filled community for our children. We look forward to celebrating together and will keep you informed of dates and times so that you can join your child’s grade.
God Bless,
Nancy Kubti
