A very warm welcome back to school to all our students, staff and families. The beginning of a new school year is filled with excitement and anticipation for the year ahead. It has been wonderful to see our students arriving each morning with a smile on their face, eager to connect and collaborate with their friends and teachers.
All of our students have commenced the school year excited and curious about the challenging and enjoyable learning opportunities they will be engaged in this term. This year we will ensure each and every student has the opportunity to aim for the stars and achieve their learning goals. This week, our students have collaborated with their teachers to discuss their learning and thriving goals and develop an action plan in order to achieve these goals. We are very excited to share these goals with you during our learning and thriving meetings next week.
Term 1 Curriculum Overviews will be shared with parents this Friday via Compass. This document outlines the learning focus of each Key Learning Area and exciting events your child will be engaged in throughout the term. The overview also includes your child’s sport and library days.
Our StMM’s Curriculum Overviews are a useful reference to keep somewhere prominent so that you can refer to it with your child and discuss the specifics of their learning throughout the term.
Students in years 3 and 5 will be sitting NAPLAN between 12 and 24 March 2025.
NAPLAN is just one part of our learning assessment program. The tests assess literacy and numeracy skills your child is already learning at school. It is not a test that can be studied for and students are not expected to do so. In the weeks leading up to the assessments, students in Year 3 and 5 will undertake activities to help them become familiar with the format and functionality of the online tests.
Parents are encouraged to visit the parents and carers page on the NAP website and download a copy of the NAPLAN information brochure. Parents along with their child can access sample questions by visiting the public demonstration site. More information for parents regarding NAPLAN will be sent over the coming weeks.
Congratulations again to all of our students on transitioning so smoothly into their learning and school routines in the classroom and across the playground. I look forward to working in partnership with our school community as we strive to learn and follow our school motto ‘Love the Truth’. I am excited to celebrate and share with you the wonderful learning that happens everyday at St Margaret Mary’s.
God Bless
