Prayer

2nd Sunday of Advent

Prayer of St. Brigid

O Holy God,

You have given me the gift of life,

and I offer it back to You in service and love.

Grant me the grace to be a servant of peace and justice,

to care for the poor and the sick,

to comfort the broken-hearted,

and to walk humbly upon the earth.

May Your light shine through me,

and may I always be an instrument of Your love.

Through Christ, our Lord,

Amen.

Celebrating St. Brigid & the Brigidine Sisters

On February 1st, it was St. Brigid's Feast Day. A day where we honor St. Brigid of Kildare, one of Ireland’s most beloved saints, known for her compassion, wisdom, and dedication to the poor. As a patroness of Ireland, she embodies hospitality, justice, and peace—values that continue to inspire today.

A special tribute to the Brigidine Sisters, who carry on her legacy through their work in education, social justice, and community service worldwide. Their mission of kindness and empowerment keeps Brigid’s light shining brightly in our world. Our Lady's Primary School is a proud Brigidine school.

May we all be inspired by Brigid’s spirit of generosity and strength as we walk in her footsteps!

History of Our Lady's

Father Byrne was tasked with the very important job of supporting the Catholic Parish at Our Lady's in March of 1958. After securing land for our school, Father Byrne approached the Brigidine sisters to see if they would teach at the school. Our prayer today comes from St. Brigid, the founder of the Brigidine Sisters. Our school was officially opened and blessed on the 7th of December, 1958.

The Cross of St. Brigid

One of the most iconic symbols associated with St. Brigid is the Brigid's Cross, a woven cross traditionally made from rushes. According to legend, Brigid created the cross while she was tending to the sick. The cross is often hung in homes to bring blessings, protection, and peace. It remains a powerful symbol of her spirit and the Irish monastic tradition. This is why we display a Brigidine cross proudly at the entry of our school.
