Weekend Rec Activities

Bondi Beach Trip

The Kambala Boarders made the most of Sydney’s beautiful summer weather with a fantastic outing to Bondi Beach. With the sun shining and a refreshing sea breeze, the girls enjoyed a perfect day exploring one of Sydney’s most iconic locations.

The adventure began at the Bondi Markets, where the Boarders wandered through vibrant stalls filled with unique handmade crafts, stylish clothing, and delicious local treats. From vintage finds to trendy accessories, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

After some browsing and shopping, it was time to hit the beach. The girls cooled off in the crystal-clear water, splashing in the waves and soaking up the sunshine. Bondi’s lively atmosphere and golden sands provided the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of fun, relaxation, and quality time with friends.

To top off an incredible day, the Boarders enjoyed refreshing açaí bowls and snow cones, the perfect way to cool down after the beach. It was a delicious and well-earned reward to finish the outing on a high note.

This Bondi trip was not only a chance to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors but also an opportunity to strengthen friendships and create lasting memories. We look forward to many more exciting adventures in the coming weeks!

Events

Boarders IN Weekend - Term 1

After Saturday morning sport and leave with families, all our Boarders gathered in Fernbank ready to get to know each other, connect with friends they have not seen over the holiday and meet our new girls.

Head Boarder Ava and Deputy Head Boarder Hilary, ran the afternoon leading games with a focus on getting to know each other. They used the newly renovated downstairs TV and games lounge, which is a hugely popular space in the house.  This was followed by a delicious dinner compliments of Chef Anne and a very competitive Team Trivia Quiz which everyone loved.

After dinner we all gathered in the Music Theatre to watch Zootopia. Of course the movie wouldn’t be complete without popcorn and lollies. Many girls wore their lovely new personalised fluffy white robes which added to the cosy movie experience.

Raging Waters Sunday Trip

On Sunday, 2 February, the Kambala Boarders kicked off the year with a fantastic adventure at Raging Waters as part of our first In-Weekend for 2025. The day was all about strengthening friendships, building sisterhood, and, of course, having an absolute blast!

Boarders were all excited and embraced the thrill of the T5, braved the twists and turns of The Bombora, and cooled off in the Wave Pool. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, the Lazy River provided the perfect setting for floating and chatting with friends. It was wonderful to see everyone supporting and encouraging each other—whether conquering the steepest slides or simply sharing laughter over hot chips in the shade.

After drying off and heading back to School, we wrapped up the weekend with a group walk to St Michael’s Church in Vaucluse for a Chapel service led by Rev Aroney. It was a special time for reflection, gratitude, and setting positive intentions for the term ahead.

The day was a fantastic opportunity for new and returning Boarders to bond outside the School environment, deepening connections that will last throughout the year and beyond. Boarding at Kambala is more than just living together—it’s about creating lifelong friendships, and experiences like these, are what make our Boarding community so special.

A huge thank you to the Boarding Staff for organising such a memorable outing and ensuring everyone had a safe and fun-filled day. We can’t wait for the next adventure!

Prep

Prep is held after dinner Monday to Thursday for all Boarders. The year 11 and 12 girls study in Fernbank House while the year 7-10 girls study in the library. Tutors from A-Team support the girls on Monday and Wednesday nights as they have done in past years. The Boarding staff are also capable tutors and can assist the girls with their study and organisation skills at any time.

This week the junior Boarders were encouraged to develop filing systems for their emails and helped with the use of their Kambala Diaries. As the volume of homework increases, organisational skills are very important.
