This year, we welcome two new members to the Primary Years - Tarneit Leadership team. Mrs Rebecca Moore continues as the PYP/Curriculum Coordinator and works with the Head of Learning to oversee teaching and learning in the Primary Years. Rebecca is an excellent resource for finding out more about what our students learn and how teachers teach it.
Mr Steven Tkaczuk continues as the Assistant Head of Primary - Years 5 & 6 and is joined by Mrs Sharmeen Hussein - Assistant Head of Primary Years - Years 2, 3 & 4 and Mr Dean Taravillo - Assistant Head of Primary - Prep and Year 1. As well as teaching many of the students in their associated year levels, they work alongside supporting classroom teachers in the pastoral care and well-being of our primary students. You may hear from them if they need to inform you about an incident or require information to assist a student. Please introduce yourself if you see them around the College.

Every Tuesday there is a Primary Years Assembly in the College Gym beginning at 8:55am. On occasion the day of these is changed to fit in with a whole College event. At least twice a term these are for all students P - 6, but sub-school assemblies, P - 2 and Year 3 - 6 also occur. At these sub-school assemblies, a particular year level has an opportunity to present their recent learning to students and parents.
Below is the schedule for Term 1:
Parents are always welcome.

Seesaw provides a dynamic digital portfolio for Primary Years students, allowing them to document and showcase their learning journey. Through Seesaw, students can capture their work, reflect on their progress, and share their achievements with their families. This tool empowers students to take ownership of their learning and develop important digital literacy skills.
It’s important to note that teachers will not be monitoring the messaging component of Seesaw. If you need to communicate with staff members, please continue to use direct email for any queries or messages. Seesaw is intended to be a space for student-driven learning and sharing, helping to build a connection between home and school.

We’re excited to announce an increase in Physical Education (PE) sessions for our Primary Years students, moving from one session per week to two. In some classes, this will mean a double session, while in others, it will involve two separate lessons.
The first lesson will focus on explicit instruction, where students will learn new knowledge and skills. The second session will be dedicated to applying those skills in real-world scenarios, alongside building fitness and promoting overall wellbeing.
This update will provide students with more opportunities to develop their physical abilities, enhance coordination, and foster a deeper understanding of the importance of physical activity for a healthy lifestyle. The added sessions will help students build both confidence and competence, contributing positively to their overall growth and development.
