Years F & 1
It has been a busy couple of weeks in the F/1 room.
We have been focusing on our sounds and having a go at listening closely and writing all the sounds they can hear. This has been shown in the students writing and you can see they are taking such time and care with their work. They have been having a go at writing sentences from the books we have been reading and putting the key details in the sentence like who, what and where.
In humanities, students got to have a go at designing their boomerang. They thought closely about their design and what they should include. Some included some symbols we had learnt about, Australian animals and the colours of the Aboriginal flag. Students thought closely about the colours they selected to ensure they matched what they wanted to show.
We were lucky to have a visit from Max's new dog Dusty. The students loved having a pat and getting to see a whippet puppy .
In art, we created a bright and sunny sun. We used cool colours like orange, yellow and red and splodged them onto the paper plates and sun rays. We cut them out and stuck the rays on thinking about placement to ensure they were spaced out evenly. Students got to add a face. Last week we started drawing a tree and putting an outline in black texta. This week we had a go using liquid watercolour paints which was our first time and started to paint. We started with the tree and then thought about the background and making sure that it matched the colour of the sky. We still need to add some features but they are coming along nicely.
