Hello from our new Principal

A big, warm hello to the Cavendish Primary School Community.

My name is Kate Steele, and I am so excited to have been given the privilege of starting as your Principal in Term 3.

A bit about me – I have been teaching for a long time. I have taught in the A.C.T, N.S.W and Victoria. From 2006-2017 I taught at Hamilton North Primary School. My family and I moved to Gippsland in 2018, where I worked at Yarram Primary School, and then took on the position of Principal at Stratford Primary School. I am really looking forward to being back in the classroom, and I can’t wait to meet the Cavendish Primary School students.

My family and I own a farm at Yulecart. My husband Calum has accepted an Assistant Farm Manager job 10 minutes out of Cavendish, so we will be living there and running our farm on weekends. It is going to be great traveling only 10 minutes to school! My son Eddie is 14, and he will be attending Monivae College. My daughter Fiona is about to turn 11. She will start in Year 5 at Hamilton North Primary.

We are looking forward to becoming part of the Cavendish community. Eddie has already had a run in the Under 14s for the Bloods, and Fiona is a keen netball player. Fiona and I both love riding horses. We campdraft most weekends over the Summer. We have already planned a ride to The Bridge Café – their coffee and sausage rolls are delicious! I just hope there is somewhere to tie up my horse…

I hope to pop in next Thursday and meet you all before the end of Term 2. My family and I have almost finished our big move, and we can’t wait to put up our feet and settle in Cavendish.

Warmest regards,

Kate Steele
