School Council

As we finish another busy term at Gray St and prepare for a well-deserved mid-year break, I want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated Principal, Mr. Ben Kelson as he transitions to a new role as Assistant Principal from Term 3 and takes some time to spend with his family. Since joining our school community nearly four years ago, Ben has been instrumental in fostering growth, development, and excellence in all aspects of our school life.

Under his supportive leadership, our school has seen remarkable achievements and growth. We've experienced consistent improvement in student learning outcomes, both inside and outside the classroom, and he has successfully implemented The Resilience Project, as well as the Berry Street Education Model, enhancing our students' social and emotional learning, and focusing on wellbeing.

Over the past few years, he also secured the YMCA to manage our Out of School Hours Care program, including the reintroduction of the Holiday Programs, a move that has greatly benefited both the school and wider community. He has overseen important upgrades to our school grounds, including the installation of new shade sails and seating areas, creating a more comfortable and inviting environment for our students. We’ve seen the introduction of new school jumpers and beanies. On many of these projects, Ben has worked tirelessly with Student Voice to implement their ideas. His ability to support, guide and foster student engagement in their school is one of Ben’s strengths.

Mr. Kelson's unwavering commitment to our school's growth and his focus on student achievement for all have truly made a difference. We are grateful for his hard work and dedication in creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for all our students. We hope he and his family have a wonderful break and look forward to welcoming him back.

On behalf of the school community - Thank you, Mr. Kelson, for your outstanding leadership and ongoing commitment to Hamilton (Gray St) Primary School.
