Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Families,

After an irregularly long Term 2 of 11 weeks, and with swimming thrown into the mix alongside some extensive illness, the students have done a wonderful job of pushing through the tiredness! I hope you all have a well-deserved break coming up for the middle of the year.

Semester One Reports and Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences

On Friday 28th June, your child's Semester One report will be released on Compass. Accompanying this, we will open the Term 3 Parent-Student Teacher conference bookings - also via Compass - which are being held on Wednesday 24th July. This will be a pupil free day to allow all teachers, including specialist teachers, the opportunity to hold 10-minute meetings to discuss the student's progress and learning goals as outlined in their reports. There will be no conferences happening on this day for 34T with Mrs Thomas, as she does not work on Wednesdays. As such, the bookings to meet with her will be open on Friday 26th July between 8:30am and 4:00pm.

I would like to encourage parents to also book conferences with those specialist teachers who are available on the day of the 24th to discuss your child's progress in Japanese, Visual Art, Performing Arts and P.E.

These will be available on Compass from 3pm on Friday 28th June.

Year 5/6 Legal Aid Sessions

Last week, our Year 5/6 classes attended sessions focussing on Bullying, Cyberbullying, Racism and Group Offending facilitated by external providers from Legal Aid. These education sessions explored the importance of children having an understanding of these actions, and their consequences, and discussed the physical and mental impacts on both offenders and victims. Our presenters also discussed the real-world, legal ramifications involved, particularly in "online environments", where children often feel anonymous and more-willing to offend.

Lastly, a reminder that the last day of term is Friday 28th June and dismissal is 2:30pm. Term 3 resumes on Monday 15th July and, as mentioned above, Wednesday 24th July is a Pupil Free Day.

P.S. Don't forget to book in for the Tuning into Kids Parent sessions being run next term, which I referred to in my last newsletter article and we have also posted on Compass and Seesaw.

Have a great break!

Until I see you in person,

David
