Message from the Head of Student Wellbeing
Cas Gemoh
It has been another busy semester for the Christway Student Wellbeing team with many wellbeing referrals, running programs, furnishing the new Wellbeing Hub, and being involved in the life of the school.
Wellbeing Hub and group programs
The team ran two groups of PEERS (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) Program throughout Term 2. About 30 students (from Years 4 to 9) successfully attended the program, and the feedback was very positive. Below are some quotes from students who attended:
“The program helped me to be consistent with my friends… and it's fun”
“What I liked most is about learning about cyberbullying”
“I liked the role plays and I learned how to actively listen to others… it’s fun, I will recommend it”
“It helped me quite a bit. It got someone to stop teasing me… it really helped me with my problems”
“I feel I have changed, it helped me to handle my anxiety and being teased”
In addition to providing one-on-one and group counselling, the team is making maximum use of the newly furnished Wellbeing Hub by hosting and supervising various preventive intervention programs and group activities for students at recess and lunch.
