With a focus on supporting students to be work ready, the SEED program emphasises building the character qualities that students need to enter the workforce. These qualities are built through how students work in and maintain the Gym environment, with a focus on safety and risk management, attention to detail and sticking to a task to achieve results.
Students are reminded to remember their ABC! Attendance, Behaviour & Character!
School sports will continue to be massive in Term 3, with tours of AFL Club Grounds (such as the Geelong Cats!), and new, exciting opportunities for our students.
Northern Bay students will be representing the College at the Bis Sports Brekky on August 21 at the Barwon Sports Academy!
Year 5 - 6
The Lightening Premiership was hugely successful this year, due to specialised coaching for our students. The 4 junior campuses came together to form 2 teams in representing Northern Bay College.
Year 7 - 8
240 students across Years 7 & 8 come together to participate in a sport of their choice. They received specialised coaching and support to excel in their chosen sport, while working closely with students from different campuses. While building skills, students are also supported in their transition to the senior campus.
Our year 8 students have done it again! Flags were won in both the girls table tennis competition and the boys volleyball competition. Congratulations to both groups for the way they represented Northern Bay College!
Year 9 - 10
Students are offered a sport elective across a range of sports such as; Netball, Basketball, AFL, Soccer, Badminton and Volleyball. Their electives run on a Monday, when students have access to the gym which supports their fitness requirements and bettering themselves.
This term, students were given a very special presentation from Kristy Harris, Olympic boxer who dropped into Northern Bay College to meet and speak with our SEED students at Goldsworthy campus. Students then had a quick session with Kristy in the gym.
She spoke about as a young girl growing up in the 3214 area, about resilience, goal setting, focus and the importance of the ability to make adjustments in your life. Kristy also spoke about competing on the world stage, personal training and performing live in a band.

Through IMPACT, Northern Bay College will strive to inspire students to hold the arts in the highest regard, and to be actively involved in their education through creative inquiry and risk-taking. We will champion the arts as a relevant, critical, and essential part of our academic and personal lives and embrace creative ideas together.
Our IMPACT students across the college have ben exploring many different areas of the ARTS. Drama and Visual Arts have been a big focus and it has been wonderful to see our students embracing all the experiences that are being offered.
Our Year 9 and 10 IMPACT students had the privilege to work with a local actor and director Dave Kelman. Dave explored with them the art of improvisation and story telling and brought out in some students skills they did not know they had. Our Year 9 IMPACT students created a story based around an x-box that saw a tragic hospital scene, an expressive dream scene and of course a happy ending. Our Year 10's saw them selves caught up in illegal street racing and having to face the consequences of their actions.
Our Year 7/8's, since commencing IMPACT at the start of this term, have been learning new painting and sketching skills. Both programs were run by professional artists here in Geelong and who loved sharing their knowledge and skills with our students. In their final piece our sketching students learnt about blending and shading and produced a finished, framed piece of work, while our painters had to create a matching pair of canvas's, which are going to look stunning hung up on the wall.

Another Important part of our program are our theatre visits. Going to the theatre is so much more than a fun day out. Students go to these shows with a focus in mind. From the music, sets, lighting and costumes to the acting, singing, dancing and special effects, there are always something for a student to observe and to think deeper about everything that goes on within a show and the many levels of all areas of the arts that are involved. In the last few weeks our students have had the privilege to see Wicked the Musical, Beauty and the Beast and Six the musical. In a couple of these shows they even had the opportunity to meet the cast afterwards and be able to ask them some very inciteful questions.

Beauty and the Beast
August 2024
53 students from across the College were able to experience the world-renowned production of Beauty and the Beast at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne. The students, teaching and education support staff boarded a Vline train at North Geelong and made their way into the city for a lovely, sunny lunch before viewing the wonderful show.
State School Spectacular
With exactly 4 weeks to the Victorian State School Spectacular our Mass Dance and Mass Choir students are getting very excited. Since the start of Term 2 our dedicated 16 Mass Dance students from Year 6 - 12 and 18 Mass Choir students from Year 4-7, have attend rehearsals, in neighbouring schools, Melbourne Town Hall and even as far as Keilor in preparation for the big day in September.
The Victorian State School Spectacular (now in Northern Bay's 11th year) is a spectacular performance, held at John Cain Arena, in front of an audience of 10,000, over two shows.
The dedication these students have displayed is to be commended as each week they attended weekly rehearsals and practicing at home to learn the 10 plus dances / songs to be a part of the 3 hour performance which is televised later in the year. We wish them all the best for the 14 September and thank you for representing Northern Bay College. CHOOKAS!
