Principal's Report

Welcome Back to Term 3 at ACPS!

As we commence Term 3, I extend a warm welcome back to all our students, parents, and staff. Reflecting on the achievements of Semester One fills me with pride, as our students have shown incredible dedication both inside and outside the classroom. This commitment plays a pivotal role in nurturing and strengthening the wonderful culture we cherish and enjoy here at ACPS.

In this Principal’s Report, I wanted to take the opportunity to share some of the Semester Two goals and priorities that we are working on at ACPS. This is the work that underpins all we do but does not necessarily make the Newsletter, Facebook or daily stories that travel home with your children.

Like all sectors, education constantly evolves, and we embrace this evolution through our mindset of continuous improvement and support it through our Annual Implementation Plan. In Semester Two, we will be continuing to build on our work in Semester One by focusing on the following areas.

We are committed to continually improving learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy across all year levels (P-6). This semester, we will conduct a thorough review and update of our curriculum to align with the new state-wide English and Maths Curriculum, set to be implemented in 2025 across Victoria. This will go beyond just curriculum design and also incorporate exploration and reviews of current evidence based best practices in teaching literacy and numeracy. As a staff we are enthusiastic about this opportunity to systematically review our teaching and learning at ACPS, explore current best practices, ensuring every student receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.

Building on the success of Semester One’s THRIVE program and House system, we are pleased to announce phase two of THRIVE. This semester, we will focus on developing and implementing a comprehensive social-emotional learning curriculum from P-6. While social-emotional learning is already integrated into our classrooms, we are eager to explore and incorporate new initiatives that promote and support development of proactive wellbeing, respectful relationships, and school wide positive behaviour.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the collaboration and dedication of our entire community as we strive to achieve our goals and support each ACPS student to feel safe, healthy and happy at ACPS while they strive for academic growth and personal excellence.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in making ACPS a place where every student can THRIVE. Let's have a great Term 3.

State Cross Country

We are incredibly proud of our three students who competed in the School Sport Victoria State Cross Country Championships at Yarra Glen last week. On a very tough and wet course, these young athletes ran impressively in an incredibly strong field of runners, showing grit, skill and determination beyond their years. In the 12/13-year-old girls race, Molly achieved an impressive 23rd place. While in the 11-year-old girls, Gracie and Anna ran outstandingly to finish 5th and 37th respectively.

By finishing in the top 6, Gracie has earned a spot on the state team! She will compete against the nation’s best runners at the School Sport Australia Cross Country Championships later in the Term.

These are remarkable achievements girls and we are all very proud of each of you.
