Principal's News

Courage, Faith, Love

Dear parents and friends of St Agatha's Primary School,

What a busy time we have had! Over the past few weeks we have enjoyed a number of events that are aimed to build community and celebrate our wonderful school.

The Athletics Day was held at Casey Fields and involved all students from Foundation to Year Six. We were so lucky with the weather! The students had a lot of fun competing and learning about teamwork and good sportsmanship. Mr V did a terrific job of once again organising the event so that it ran smoothly. A BIG THANK YOU to all the volunteers who came along to help for the day. Without the generous time of volunteers we would not be able to have this type of event for our students.

It was terrific to see so many families come along and support their children by coming along and cheering for them.

Here are some photos of the day.

Year 5 camp

Our Year Five students had a great time at the City CYC camp in Melbourne a few weeks ago. They enjoyed visiting some of the iconic places in Melbourne and learning about our history. My favourite was the visit to the Melbourne Market where we all enjoyed feasting on a few hot jam donuts! They also visited the Skydeck, Melbourne Goal, Shrine of Remebrance, went ice skating and more. Thank you to the teachers and learning support staff who made this experience possible for the Year 5 students.

Confirmation Retreat Day

Last week our year six students who are making the Sacrament of Confirmation enjoyed a retreat day held with St Therese's School and our St Agatha's Parish. The Sisters and our Religoius Education Leader - Gillian Burke did a wonderful job in organising and presenting this day for the students who took part. Confirmation will take place in August. We pray for all the students who are preparing to make this important Sacrament.

Welcome to Country

As part of Reconciliation Week, the whole school was involved in an Indigenous Welcome to Country ceremony. Led by Indigenous elders, this meaningful tradition symbolized our respect for the land, its history, and its custodians. This ceremony not only honored the Indigenous heritage of our country but also helped instill in our students a deep appreciation for diversity and unity. It was a beautiful opportunity for learning, connection, and fostering a sense of belonging within our school community.

Cross Country

Congratulations to James (4M) & Matthew (4G) who participated in the Casey South Division Cross Country. Both James and Matthew have been training and have progressed through the competitions to achieve an excellent result at this level. Well done boys!

I know we are all looking forward to the school holidays that are coming up in the next few weeks.

I look forward to sharing more news at the end of Term 2.

Yours in partnership,

Michelle Bruitzman
