F/1/2 CLASSROOM

F/1/2 News

The F/1/2 class has had a great term of learning. They have all shown a great amount of growth and improvement in their learning.

Over the past two weeks, the F/1/2 students have been focusing on statistics in Maths. They have been developing their knowledge of asking closed questions and collecting data in tables and graphs. The students have enjoyed this topic not only in Maths, but in their Walker Learning investigations as well.

Last Monday, the whole school went to Rushworth P-12 for the Talent Show. The F/1/2s were great audience members and supportive of the acts that they say. The F/1/2s were also great performers. They had the opportunity to get on stage and perform their dance to “Try everything” that they had choreographed with Ms Parry. All members of the class went on the stage with confidence and put their all into performing the dance.

On Monday, the F/1/2 students participated in a virtual incursion that focused on Aboriginal portraits. The students looked at a variety of portraits, both painted and photographed, and discussed what they saw. They also had an opportunity to engage in their own portrait drawing. The F/1/2s participated in this session in preparation for NAIDOC Week, which occurs during the school holidays.

In the coming weeks, we will have a bit more of a regular schedule with not as many events currently being booked in.

Wednesday 26th June: Mrs Parry is in the office, Miss Ryan is teaching the F/1/2s.

Friday 28th June: Last day of term - school finishes at 2:20pm. It is also Emma’s last day of work experience with us.

Saturday 29th June - Sunday 14th July: School Holidays.

Monday 15th July: First day of Term 3 and Why Worry Wally Incursion.

At the start of next term, we will be investigating the following concepts:

In Maths, we will start off with a unit on Number. This unit will focus on counting, reading numerals, writing numerals and partitioning numbers into their parts.

In Reading, we will be focusing on developing our phonics skills and finding literal and inferential meaning in texts.

In Writing, we will be focusing on narrative texts. The students will be learning to identify narrative texts, their purpose and have a go at adapting and writing their own narratives.

In Subject Focus, we will be looking at a history unit called “Past and Present Family Life”. Students will learn how to sequence time and compare historical lifestyles to current lifestyles.

In Religion, we will be learning about “Jesus and the Scriptures”. This will focus on Bible stories located in the Gospels.
