Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
PBL Lessons
Week 9 - Reporting Incidents
Week 10 - Holiday Safety
Zones of regulation
At GSPS we use the Zones of Regulation to support students understanding and ability manage their emotions. It uses four colour-coded zones to represent different emotional states and provides strategies to help students regulate their feelings and behaviours.
All zones are normal, but the goal is for students to recognise feelings and use strategies to return to the Green Zone, allowing them to remain calm and learn.
Strategies to Stay Calm
- Breathing exercises
- Count to 10
- Draw/Colour
- Read a book
- Have a drink of water
How Parents Can Help
- Talk to your child about their emotions and help them identify their zone.
- Encourage them to practise calming strategies.
- Celebrate their efforts to manage their emotions.
Respecting Others
Last week we had some very important visitors at our school. Due to this, our PBL lesson focused on the importance of respecting others. We discussed how showing respect helps create a welcoming and positive environment for everyone.
Students learned practical ways to show respect to visitors, including:
- Greeting them politely with a smile or a friendly "hello".
- Offering assistance if they appear unsure or need help.
- Using good manners by listening and speaking respectfully.
- Demonstrating pride in our school by following expectations and being positive role models.
We also learnt how to show respect to others learning, including
- Listen to the speaker
- Encourage others
- Follow instructions quickly and quietly
Reporting incidents
The final step of our problem solving high 5 is report. This week, students have been learning:
- When to report: Understanding which incidents, such as bullying or unsafe behaviour, need to be reported to a trusted adult immediately
How to report: Practising calm and respectful ways to share important information, including discreetly speaking to a teacher when others are not around.
Wellbeing & Behaviour at Our School
Wellbeing Check-In – Supporting Students This Time of Term
As we move through this busy part of the term, it’s common for students to feel a little more tired, overwhelmed, or less motivated. Assessment, routines, and long learning days can start to add up.
There are some simple ways you can support your child’s wellbeing at home:
- Keep routines steady – regular bedtimes and calm mornings make a big difference
- Check in with your child – a quick chat about their day can help them process how they’re feeling
- Encourage breaks and downtime – time to relax, play, and recharge is important
- Stay positive about school – your attitude helps shape theirs
At school, we continue to support students with structured routines, brain breaks, and opportunities to connect with peers and staff.
Sometimes a small reset is all that’s needed to finish the term strong. 💫
Toilet, Drink, Go
Drink & Toilet Break – Making Every Minute Count
At our school, we’ve carefully structured the day to include three breaks so students have time to eat, play… and importantly, use the toilets.
To support this, our 12:00 play break is now called Toilet, Drink, Go —a clear reminder of what that time is for.
With learning blocks running between 60 to 90 minutes, it’s important students are ready to stay focused without needing to leave the classroom. Every minute counts, and we don’t want anyone missing valuable learning time!
We’d really appreciate your support in encouraging your child to use this break as intended— quick toilet stop, quick drink and a play if there is time.
House Events - Every Day Counts – Attendance Matters
As you know Bishop took out the Attendance Award this week—and it’s no small feat!
Showing up every day might sound simple, but it’s actually one of the biggest keys to success at school.
Every day in class means more learning, stronger friendships, and staying on track (no catching up required!). Bishop has shown commitment, consistency, and a great attitude towards learning—and that’s something worth celebrating.
Plus, let’s be honest… you can’t win the award if you’re not here! 😉
Well done, Bishop House—keep it up!
Photography Competition
A big congratulations to Lucas House, who were the winners of our Photo Competition! Next step is an external judge will review selected entries to decide which will go on to represent our school in the show—exciting times ahead!
Swimming Carnival
Congratulations Bishop House, who took out top honours at our Senior Swimming Carnival. A great achievement that reflects effort, determination, and school spirit.

🧡 Harmony Day Celebration
Our school proudly celebrated Harmony Day, recognising the importance of inclusiveness, respect, and belonging for everyone.
Students took part in a range of activities that highlighted different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. It was wonderful to see so much orange around the school—a symbol that everyone belongs.
Harmony Day is a great reminder that our differences make us stronger, and that kindness and understanding help create a positive school community for all.
Together, we continue to build a school where everyone feels welcome and valued
SPORT
Our 2026 Senior Swimming Carnival was held on Friday, and what a fantastic day it was! Students gave their best efforts in every event and showed outstanding sportsmanship by cheering on their teammates throughout the day.
A huge thank you to all of the parents and carers who volunteered their time—whether you were timekeeping, helping at the BBQ, or cheering from the stands, your support made the day run smoothly and created a wonderful atmosphere. We truly appreciate you.
