Students Take a Stand Against Racism at AAMI Park

On March 13th, a group of our students had the exciting opportunity to attend a powerful and inspiring symposium at AAMI Park, focused on tackling racism in Victoria through the unifying power of football.

The event was hosted by Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City FC, and One Love Australia and brought together students from a range of schools across the state. The day centred on student voice, leadership, and action, with a strong emphasis on how young people can actively challenge racism within their own communities.

Throughout the symposium, students participated in workshops, discussions, and collaborative activities that explored the impact of racism and the important role schools play in creating inclusive environments. A key highlight of the day was the opportunity for each school group to present their own ideas and mini-projects. These presentations focused on practical and meaningful ways to address racism within school settings, using football as a platform to promote inclusion, respect, and cultural understanding.

Our students represented the school with confidence and creativity, showcasing thoughtful ideas that reflected both empathy and a strong commitment to social change. They demonstrated a clear understanding of how sport—particularly football—can bring people together, break down barriers, and create a sense of belonging for all.

The experience was not only educational but also empowering. Students left the symposium feeling inspired to take action, continue important conversations, and contribute to building a more inclusive school community.

We are incredibly proud of their efforts and look forward to seeing how their ideas continue to grow and make a positive impact within our school.

Art Club Inspiring Creativity at KCHS

Art Club is in full swing at Kensington Community High School, running every Wednesday during recess and lunchtime.

The club provides a relaxed and welcoming space for students to explore their creativity, experiment with different materials, and express themselves through art. Whether students are sketching, painting, or working on their own creative projects, Art Club offers an opportunity to unwind and connect with others who share similar interests.

Open to all year levels and abilities, the sessions encourage creativity, confidence, and a sense of belonging. It has been fantastic to see students using this time to build friendships, share ideas, and develop their artistic skills in a supportive environment.

We look forward to seeing the continued growth of Art Club and the amazing work our students create throughout the year.
