It has been a vibrant and productive period at Kensington Community High School, with students and staff demonstrating outstanding commitment to learning and community engagement. A particular highlight has been our recent school fete, which brought together creativity, collaboration, and a strong sense of school pride. Our elective program and year 12s played a central role in the success of this event, with students applying their skills in authentic, real-world contexts. From designing and running stalls to managing logistics and promoting the event, students showcased initiative, teamwork, and problem-solving at an impressive level. Not even the rain could dampen our spirit!
It has been great to see the continued growth of our Art program. A highlight has been our Year 7 students designing and creating their own puppets, demonstrating imagination, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. In addition, the incredible work being produced across Media has been a standout, with students creating engaging mini videos that reflect both technical skill and creative storytelling. These opportunities allow students to express themselves in diverse and meaningful ways, and the quality of work is a testament to their effort and enthusiasm.
In the classroom, there has been a strong focus on building foundational skills in Mathematics, particularly in Number and Financial Numeracy across Years 7–10. Students are developing confidence in working with money, budgeting, and real-world financial concepts that will support them beyond the classroom. Through explicit teaching, practical applications, and regular feedback, students are strengthening their ability to make informed financial decisions and apply mathematical thinking in everyday contexts.
Similarly, in English, there has been a clear emphasis on Informative Text reading and writing across years 7–10. Students are learning to analyse texts, extract key information, and communicate their ideas clearly and effectively. These skills are critical not only for academic success but also for navigating the wider world. It has been encouraging to see students engaging thoughtfully with a range of texts and demonstrating growth in their ability to write with clarity and purpose.
