Bus Code of Conduct

Updated Code of Conduct for School Students ravelling on Buses

Safe and responsible school bus travel is a shared responsibility, and every student and bus driver has the right to a safe and enjoyable journey. To support this, the Code of Conduct for School Students Travelling on Buses (the Code) has recently been refreshed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

The updated Code reflects modern-day student behaviours and continues to provide a clear framework for managing student behaviour. It sets out behaviour expectations for students and outlines processes for dealing with student misconduct.

To support the release of the refreshed Code, TMR has:

  • Updated the Code website
  • Developed a range of resources for use by schools and operators
  • Launched an awareness campaign across social media platforms.

The Code reinforces the importance of cooperation in supporting safe and responsible school bus travel. The updated resources aim to assist students, parents/guardians and schools in understanding the role they play in administering the Code and promoting safe school bus travel.
