Out & About with Students on Safari

Da Vinci Decathlon- Armidale

Year 7 & 8

At 7am in the morning two groups of eight travelled on the bus to TAS in Armidale for the Da Vinci program. When we eventually arrived a couple minutes late because we couldn’t find Beau. We entered their gymnasium which also had a massive rock climbing wall, we were then asked to take a seat at our own table.

There were about twenty five groups huddled together working on a series of questions. Both of our groups sat down and started working corruptively on particularly difficult questions. The whole science section was based on ammonia , which Mr Wright then told us what it was the next day. It would have been helpful to know the day before but at least we learnt something.

There were three sections of the day with breaks in between and also a beautiful lunch in the TAS dining hall which included pasta and a broad selection of salads. It was a great learning experience, with our grade 7 team taking home 1st place in English and 2nd place in Engineering. It was an awesome day out, seeing other schools compete with each other and socialise. TAS is a very big school with heaps of lovely people. It also looks like Hogwarts.

On the way home we got Maccas and Mr Binney shouted us all soft serves. We are very grateful to have this opportunity to attend this program and to Mrs Hill for covering the expenses.

This term, our MC students have been developing their swimming skills every Thursday!

They have been building their water confidence and engaging in their daily dose of physical activity.

We have had so much fun and were extremely lucky with the weather!

On Wednesday, our school choir had the wonderful opportunity to take part in a combined school's choir workshop alongside the talented Queens of Song. Throughout the day, students were guided by Mel and Meg, who shared their expertise and passion for music, helping students refine their vocal technique, build confidence, and develop their performance skills.

During the workshop, students learned five songs, working collaboratively with peers from across Glen Innes schools. The day culminated in an evening performance at Glen Innes Public School, where students proudly showcased their learning in front of an audience. It was fantastic to see their growth in such a short time and to witness the joy of performing together.

This event was a fantastic collaboration between local schools and provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect, create, and celebrate music as a community. It was a truly enriching experience, and one that highlighted the power of coming together through song.

Night Library Success!

Our popular Night Library program is thriving! Recently, we welcomed a fantastic group of 30 dedicated Years 9–12 students after school, all making the most of the library space for quiet study, group work and assignment help.

The energy and focus in the library was inspiring, and it's wonderful to see so many students taking advantage of this opportunity.

If you haven’t joined us yet, Night Library is open each week on Thursday evenings (4-6pm) for all students in Years 9–12. Bring your homework, revision questions, or just a book to read, and enjoy a supportive atmosphere with friends and staff. See the photo for proof!

Study isn’t lonely when you’re at Night Library!
