It’s hard to believe we are already approaching the final weeks of Term 1. The term has flown by with so much exciting learning taking place across the school. As we begin to wrap things up, we warmly invite families to join us for our Open Afternoon on Wednesday, 1st April at 3:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit classrooms and celebrate the incredible work students have completed as part of their Who We Are and How We Organise Ourselves PYP units.
On Thursday, our Grade 2 students participated in an engaging incursion as part of the Planting Seeds B&B Highway program. This hands-on experience introduced students to the importance of biodiversity, with a focus on supporting birds, bees and other pollinators through the creation of native habitats. Students explored how planting endemic species and building small habitats can help create “corridors” that support wildlife in urban environments. It was fantastic to see their curiosity and enthusiasm as they took part in practical activities, deepening their understanding of how small actions can make a big difference to our environment.

We are pleased to continue recognising students through our Compass Awards, which celebrate both our school values and the IB PYP Learner Profile attributes in action. Teachers are able to award these directly through Compass, and when your child receives one, you will be automatically notified of their positive behaviour and efforts. This provides a meaningful way for staff to give immediate, positive feedback. It also offers a great opportunity for families to celebrate success and start positive conversations at home about the wonderful choices students are making each day.
A big congratulations to our swimmers who represented the school at the Regional Swimming in Greensborough. Thanks to Ben for helping out the seven students competing at this level. Reaching the regional stage is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud of all our swimmers for their dedication, perseverance, and representation of the school values throughout each stage.
We are excited to see the progress of our fencing upgrade project along Austin Way, with works now underway at the north end of the block. The new fencing will extend all the way through to Best Street, enhancing both the appearance and functionality of our school grounds. As part of the upgrade, the fencing along the basketball court will be higher than the current structure, helping to keep balls within the yard and maximise playtime for students. We look forward to seeing the completed project when we return for Term 2.
Have a great week.
