NAPLAN – Installing a Locked Down Browser

As was communicated last week, Year 5 students will undertake NAPLAN in Week 7 of Term 1. While there is a testing window, the three test dates will be between Wednesday 11 – Friday 13 March.

All students taking part in NAPLAN Online tests must install a locked down browser app suitable for their device. A locked down browser is a secure test player in which students take NAPLAN online tests. It is designed to prevent access to all other applications, tools such as spellcheck, web pages, or software while the student is taking the test. Please visit the following link on your child’s device and install the appropriate locked down browser - Locked down browser | Online National Assessment Platform.

Alternatively, you can find the link on the Year 5 CANVAS Meeting Page:

Interim Reports

Much has been done to settle and set strong foundations for our learners in either their first or second year here at the College. As educators, we value knowing our learners and developing rapport with them. This allows students to thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment. By the end of Week 8 this term, families will receive an Interim Report, using the vocabulary scale of:

Rarely (1)

Occasionally (2)

Satisfactorily (3)

Usually (4)

Consistently (5)

You will find the Student Attributes below. Discussions at home about how students would ‘rate’ themselves would be a good reflective process in addition to discussions occurring in the classroom.

  1. Application: A student’s degree of readiness to find purpose in his own learning, readiness to work independently, and ability to direct his own academic growth.

  2. Commitment to Study: A student’s diligence in the completion of classwork, assignments, homework, revision, and/or assigned study.

  3. Conduct: The degree to which a student is cooperative and polite towards the teacher and his peers, demonstrating courtesy and respect.

  4. Engagement: The level to which a student actively participates in class activities and asks and responds to questions.

  5. Responsibility: The extent to which a student is punctual, prepared and organised for lessons.
