Paul M Pinel Organ Scholarship
The Paul M Pinel Organ Scholarship remains one of the College’s most distinguished music awards. Students applying for this scholarship are required to have attained at least Grade 5 AMEB Piano and to complete an organ audition consisting of one prepared piece and one sight-reading piece performed on the day.
Recipients of the scholarship receive weekly organ tuition, currently provided by our peripatetic tutor, Mark Quarmby, a highly respected organist who has performed for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Students who are awarded this scholarship hold it for the duration of their time at the College and assume the important responsibility of providing music for significant College events. In doing so, they make a valued contribution to the broader life of the College.
I congratulate our 2026 recipients of the Paul M Pinel Organ Scholarship: Lucien Grognard (Year 11) and Aaron Nguyen (Year 9). We look forward to their continued leadership and musical service in the years ahead.
Year 11 Music Soirée
The Music Soirée, held on Monday 2 March 2026, showcased the talent, commitment, and musical growth of Year 11 Music 1 students Henry Whitehead, Cooper Pursehouse, Lucas Burnicle, Gilbert Mahony, Nicholas Stojanovski, Declan Garnett and Jake Quailey; and Music 2 students Lucien Grognard, Jonathan Berkmann and Owen Leung. The program featured a diverse range of repertoire, from classical works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Sarasate to well-known film themes and contemporary pieces, highlighting each student’s developing artistry, confidence, and performance skills.
I congratulate all students on their outstanding efforts and professionalism in presenting such a polished and engaging evening. I also extend my sincere thanks to the Music Department for their dedication in supporting and preparing students for this important first Year 11 performance opportunity.
2026 NESA Confirmation of Entry Forms
Over the coming fortnight, students in Years 10, 11 and 12 will confirm their enrolment entries with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA). This process is an important step in credentialing and ultimately leads to the award of the Higher School Certificate (HSC).
Students will carefully review their personal details, current subject enrolments, and other information, including Indigenous status and Australian citizenship. Year 12 students will also confirm their eligibility for an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR), noting that some may elect not to receive an ATAR.
By signing the Confirmation of Entry form, Year 12 students acknowledge that they have read and understood the NESA HSC Rules and Procedures Guide 2026, available on the NESA website at Rules and processes | NSW Education Standards. They will be guided through this process during Homeroom in Week 7. Students also confirm completion of the NESA All My Own Work program, reinforcing the College’s strong commitment to academic integrity and good scholarship.
Confirmation of Entry forms for Years 10 and 11 are also signed and returned during Homeroom and remain at the College. All documentation is cross-checked against both College and NESA records to ensure complete accuracy.
Maintaining accurate student information is essential to ensure the correct credentialing of the Record of School Achievement (RoSA) and the HSC. Any changes to contact details, medical information, or family circumstances must be communicated to the College in writing and forwarded to our Enrolment Officer, Mrs Emily Saoud, via mail or email Emily.saoud@spc.nsw.edu.au.
Should parents/carers or students have any questions regarding this process, please do not hesitate to contact me.
