As term 1 draws to a close we reflect on what has been a very busy term for our students, staff and wider community. It is very positive to end the term with some events that involve large numbers from our community. Yr 7 to 10 Parent/Teacher/Student conferences were held on Wednesday evening and provided an opportunity for parents and guardians to meet their child’s teachers and for constructive conversations to be had around learning. Thursday we gather together for our Easter liturgy. This provides a chance to reflect on and give thanks for the many gifts we have. And the day concludes with our annual cross country at Lake Wyangan. This is an opportunity for our serious athletes to test themselves but also a chance for the students to be together in an environment outside the classroom and enjoy each other's company. Such a positive way to end a very busy term.

Our Year 11 Wellbeing team have been very active this term, quietly working to develop initiatives that promote and support student wellbeing. In week 9, members of this team attended HYPE - Helping Young People Evolve, where they participated in workshops that let them see the various supports for young people in our local community. They will bring this back to the College and we hope to see them using this to guide some of their future initiatives. They already have some exciting plans in place for term 2. Earlier in the term the team were presented with their badges, acknowledging their decision to step up into the role and to actively support student wellbeing.

On Friday March 13 Griffith Soroptimists hosted their annual International Women’s Day breakfast. At this breakfast a member of our Yr 11 Wellbeing Team, Emma Cunial, received a Certificate  of Achievement for showing equality, human rights and understanding in the broader community. It is recognition of the quiet work Emma does within our community, aiming for a fairer future for all. Well done Emma.

I would like to wish all our families a safe holiday period and a joyful and blessed Easter Season and I look forward to what term 2 brings us.
