From Ms Gooch

One of our school values is respect, and at Kambala,  we think about this as “Amplifying kindness with faith, empathy and heart”. In the Junior School we teach respect in a number of ways, including respect for self, others and our environment.

This week in Massie House, Healthy Harold visited, bringing valuable lessons on how to respect our bodies by looking after our health, safety and how to respect others by keeping happy friendships.

Our EJ Watt Students in Years 4-6 have engaged in a special program on Growth and Development, led by specialist Judith Krause. Judith has extensive experience in adolescent health and wellbeing and covers topics such as emotions, body image and the stages of physical development. These experiences are complemented by our Bounce Back Program and Health lessons that are planned in developmental stages from Prep - Year 6.

We are always very proud when our students show respect not only to the adults in their lives, but to themselves, their peers and their environment. Our Random Acts of Kindness box has a steady flow of acknowledgements, and celebrations such as Science Week bring us great opportunities to think about how we can have respect for our environment by learning about and caring for our world. We thank our Science Specialist Ms Jones for preparing engaging activities for our learners this week.

Tivoli Avenue

We have again received notification from our neighbours on Tivoli Avenue about cars being parked in their driveways during pick up/ drop off. This has, on some occasions this past week, prevented them from being able to exit their properties. We kindly ask all Parents/ Carers to avoid stopping and parking in our neighbours’ driveways, even if it is momentary.

Junior School Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent-Teacher interviews with P-6 Class teachers and Years 2-6 Specialist teachers will be held during Week 8 of Term 3 (Monday 9 September - Thursday 12 September). Specialist teachers available for Term 3 interviews are:

Year 4 - Music, Science, Drama

Year 5 - Music, French, Mandarin, Art

Year 6 - Music, French, PE, Art

Interview times with your daughter’s teachers will be offered both before and after school hours. Most parents find 10 minutes sufficient time for interviews with their daughter’s Class teacher, plus 5 minutes with Specialist teachers and Mathematics teachers. If you feel that more time is necessary, please contact your daughter’s teacher to arrange a convenient time and date for a longer meeting.

We will continue to utilise Zoom for our interviews as feedback indicates this works best for our busy parents and carers. A link for online bookings will be posted in this newsletter next week. The booking portal will be open from 4pm on Thursday 22 August and will close at 4pm on Thursday 29 August.
