From the Principal

Werte,

Awesome news last week with the next lot of reading assessments in and students consistently showing improvement. Every student had a gain in the last 5 weeks showing the fruits of our small group, targeted literacy approach. Early next term we will have some open mornings where you can see our literacy approach in action.

Next Tuesday night is our school concert, and I look forward to seeing you all there. Please feel free to bring a picnic to have as a family from 5:30pm and our concert will start at 6:15pm. Check out Seesaw for notes from your class teachers as to what to wear. POTS will have drinks and snacks for sale with first in best dressed. Eftpos will be available on the night.

I am proud of both our enviro team, for providing the seeds and the SRC for selling seeds and Zooper Doopers last week to support our plan of buying a Telstra booster for Alice Springs Hospital's accident and emergency. Look out next Friday for the SRC bake sale. You can support the SRC by donating baked goods and sending along some gold coins for your child to purchase a treat.  We are looking for donations of ingredient labelled, baked goods to be left at the hall canteen before school which our SRC will sell at first break.

Next term begins our whole school swimming lessons. If you don’t already have swimmers organized here’s some advance notice that every child will need school appropriate swimwear, a towel, thongs or slides to travel to and from the pool and a bag to put the wet things in on their return. Please practice with your little people taking on and off their swimmers and dressing independently in the next few weeks in preparation for Term 4.

Blessings,

Mrs Lisa Goldsworthy

School Concert

Please join us on Tuesday 10th September for our School Concert.  The theme this year is inspired by 'weather.' We will start at 5:30 with a BYO picnic, with the concert to start at 6:15 pm.  All students will meet at their classroom at 6:05 pm.  POTS will be selling snacks and drinks on the night - popcorn $1.00, chips $2.00, drinks $2.50.

Welcome to our School

My name is Scotty Bertus, and I am the new HaPE teacher here at Living Waters!

I’ve taught transition through to grade 12 across multiple faculties, but my main method and passion is HaPE and Outdoor and Environmental Education.

I’m a level 3 AFL coach and love my local and elite footy. I especially love the passionate community of footy here in the NT.

I am also a voracious fantasy/historical fiction reader.

I have a partner, Cassandra (originally from Alice Springs), 2 daughters, Remi and Isla, and a dog Toby.

We are looking forward to starting our new chapter here in Alice Springs.

Devotion

A big thank you to POTS for putting on the Father’s Day breakfast last week. It was a great opportunity for dads, students and other special friends to gather and enjoy some food and fun together.

Father’s Day this year made me reflect on the blessings I have received from my own dad. He would never claim to be a ‘perfect’ father, but he did work hard to provide a loving home for our family, clothes, food, education and many other things as well.

Every now and then my dad travelled interstate or overseas for work. When he returned home my brothers and I would be happy to see him, but we were even more interested in what he brought us. Our favourite gift was the little packets of airplane peanuts!

It says in James 1:17 ‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.’ Not all people have a good relationship with their earthly father, or even know him, but the Bible says we all have a good Father in heaven.

This Father does not change like the shadows or the weather. He does not drift in and out of our lives. Rather, he is constant and provides more for us than we want or imagine. Psalm 103:8 says, ‘The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.’ That is the kind of father I want, and the kind of father I want to be.
