On Tuesday 3rd of September, we participated in a walkathon to raise money for the Olivia Newton-John Research Centre. Alex in year 6 had organized this for the school. Marty had said that if we walked more laps than him around the school, we wouldn’t have to come to school for one year! At first, when we started to walk, all year 4/5 and 5/6 thought it would be a piece of cake. But then, once everybody did more and more laps, it became harder and we thought the exact opposite of what we had thought at the beginning. In the end, Marty said he walked 25 laps but we don’t know how he did this because he always walked with us and we didn’t walk that far! It was extremely exhausting but overall, it was really fun for everybody!   Nirav and Callix

We would like to wish Mark safe travels to Italy during the next couple of weeks. We hope the experience is unique and it will be an unforgettable time for him. Hope you don't get any jet lag Mark!!!

Year 5 / 6

Thanks Mark. Thanks Alex.
Thanks Mark. Thanks Alex.

What a wonderful; week it's been at Sacred Heart school, with our senior student and Sports leader Alex Mateski being responsible for mobilising our entire school community.

He has been touched by the tragedy of illness in his family and wanted to raise awareness of the evils of cancer. He went away, talked it over with his family and came to school with a plan ~ to raise money and awareness and help support the Olivia Newton Foundation. And the chocolate bar? Well, Mark and Alex and I had a side bet trying to guess on the amount of money that would be raise. Alex said $400, Mark said $500 and I said $600. Counting hasn't been finalised, but I think, as they say, I've got the chocolates!!!

AMAZING WORK ALEX. Congratulations on a job well done!

An excerpt from Roman's picture storybook, 'My Place' ...

Hello my name is Lisa, and this is my place. I turned ten a month ago.

I live with my mum Connie, dad Frank, my two brothers Gianni and

David and my sister Daniela. I live in Lalor, Melbourne. I don’t have a lot of toys

but I do have a Barbie doll, and I use the off cuts of my mum's fabric that she sews to make clothes for my barbie. Today I helped my dad in the garden. I helped picking the tomatoes

off the vines and pulled out some weeds. I also helped my mum make pasta for dinner,

pizzelle for dessert and I also helped shell the beans. During winter we helped dad make

the sausages…they’re still drying but I can’t wait to eat them.
