Message Stick Mass

The Message Stick is a part of the NSW Catholic Schools Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Conference that will be held in Tamworth in October. The message stick is part of an Aboriginal tradition of passing on information and stories. This particular message stick has had a journey to all the school in the Armidale Diocese and we are fortunate enough to be receiving it on the 8th of September.

To celebrate this special event, our Parish will receive the message stick and will be having a special Mass to celebrate its arrival. It is highly encouraged that all students attend either the 9am or the 5pm mass on Sunday 8th September.

Miss Taggart will be asking for volunteers to participate in the mass.

Throughout Week 8, students will be involved is a session guided by Miss Taggart to learn about the message stick and the importance it has to the Indigenous culture and the importance it has on our school involvement of the NSW Catholic School Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Conference.

Conference Final Practice

On Thursday 5th September, the Stage 3 Indigenous students will travel to Gunnedah for their final dress rehearsal. Students will be picked up by bus from the school at 9am and travel to Gunnedah with Miss Taggart and Mrs Power. Students are asked to wear their sports uniforms and their performance clothes underneath. Miss Taggart will hand back their performance clothes the day before, so they do not get lost or misplaced. Students are to bring their own morning tea, and a sausage sandwich will be provided for lunch.
