Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the halfway mark of the term. Where has the year gone? It is certainly moving very quickly. The students have certainly been busy in the classroom, learning new concepts, consolidating past concepts and showing a true enthusiasm and love for learning. It gives us great pleasure to visit the learning spaces and see students happy, smiling and engaged in their learning. We thoroughly enjoy asking students about their learning and hearing their responses.

Grandparents Day & Book Week Parade

A huge thank you to all the wonderful grandparents who attended our Book Week Parade last Friday! We were blessed with an absolutely perfect day to celebrate and acknowledge the significant role that grandparents play in our lives.

The day began with a beautiful liturgy, thoughtfully organised by Mrs Mitchell, which allowed us to show our appreciation and express our gratitude for the unwavering love and support our grandparents provide for us. The slideshow, crafted by Mrs Vile, wonderfully captured the special bond between grandchildren and their grandparents, as did the heartfelt poem recited by the Stage 3 students.

The warm sunshine provided the ideal backdrop for a shared morning tea, where many families enjoyed each other's company and took the time to browse through the Book Fair display organised by Mrs Holley. Then came a definite highlight of the day—the highly anticipated Book Week Parade! Our students and staff members looked absolutely fantastic in their costumes, fully embracing this year's theme, "Reading Is Magic."

It was truly exciting and energising to have our school community come together to celebrate such a wonderful day. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making it so special!

Staffing News

Unfortunately, Mr Luke Paterson will remain on extended leave for the duration of the term due to a knee injury. We are very fortunate and grateful that Mrs Andy Lockwood has agreed to continue teaching Stage 3 until the end of this term.

Additionally, Mrs Jo Wallace will be taking leave and heading overseas from next Monday 2nd September for the remainder of the term. During this time Mrs Amanda Young will teach Stage 3 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Miss Phoebe O’Shea continuing in her teaching role on Thursdays and Fridays. Please note that in Week 9, from Monday 16th September to Friday 20th September, there will be a slight change where Mrs Young will be in Stage 1 all week and Miss O’Shea will cover Stage 3 throughout the week.

During this time, Mrs Judy Ryan and Mrs Aly Kellow will continue teaching Stage 1, with support from our Educational Assistants and other staff as required, particularly in the literacy and numeracy blocks. We would like to thank you for your continued support and understanding during this time.

Annual School Survey

An annual satisfaction survey of parents, students and staff will be conducted on behalf of all Catholic schools in the Diocese this term. The surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff and students about our school and will be used to affirm practices and inform school improvement. The surveys will be launched via email today; Monday, 26 August 2024 using the email addresses supplied to the school. The survey will close on Wednesday, 4 September 2024.

Happy Father's Day

Wow! It is that time of the year when we say a massive thank you to all of our amazing father's. Father's Day is a celebration of fatherhood; a time for us to honour, celebrate and to be thankful for all of the men, father figures and male role models in our lives. We recognise the very important role you play in the lives of children, so thank you to all of the dads and father figures in our school community.

We are looking forward to our Father's Day BBQ on Friday and hope you all enjoy a very happy Father's Day this Sunday surrounded by the special people in your lives.

Wishing all members of the St Joseph's School community all the best for a great week.
