Benvenuto - Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week at the college, we engaged in a number of activities and learning experiences in recognition of the official National Week Against Bullying and Violence. This has been a focus across the month of August, our Year 7-9 students attended sessions with Leigh Johnson, Multicultural Liaison Officer from Victoria Police and representatives from Headspace around bullying and appropriate behaviours online, including where to get support if needed. This is an important message that we will continue to highlight and embed in our learning programs.
The turtle shell was awash with glitter during the annual Book Week parade. We had great participation across the School of Wonder from both students and staff. It was so lovely to see all the special guests present to witness the joy of celebrating literature in our lives.
A great day was had by all at the annual Athletics Carnival at McEwen Reserve last week. The weather was wonderful and there were lots of happy, but weary children by the end of the day. Congratulations to Montessori House – the winner of the day overall. Thank you to all the staff and students who assisted on the day, a special thanks to the students who ran the BBQ as a fundraiser for the Vinnies Winter Appeal on the day.
We are excited for the upcoming Beaut Blokes BBQ and Bingo night on Wednesday 28 August. It will be a great opportunity to celebrate the amazing male role models in our lives and have a bit of fun!
Today was a student free day as staff focussed on professional learning, allowing them to see how we can live the teachings of Jesus Christ in the areas of Sustainability, Eco Spirituality, Ladauto Si and Catholic Social teachings led by Maria Ford from CES Ltd.
A couple of reminders:
- Bookings for Learning Conversations in Week 8 and 9 are now open and available through PAM
- Please be on the lookout an email regarding nomination for the Advisory Council
- St Mel’s Parish Sacramental Program Information Night (August 29 at 7pm)
With the weather improving, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend full of love and laughter.
